Are you a fan? Will you go to see it? Any theories as to how things will evolve?
The big question, is BV with the force or the dark side?

I liked SNL's mock commercial about Star Wars toy collectors last night.

A lot of folks predicting Luke went to the dark side.

How say you?

the fact that he's not on a poster or a promo clip i've seen might lead one to believe he's been cosmetically enhanced, or wearing a variation of the vader mask. we'll know very soon.

Of course I won't feel the same exitement as I did 38 years ago when seeing my first
Star Wars movie. But luckily I have a 12 year old son, and I can relive the exitement
by looking at his anticipation for next friday, when we will be going to see the new movie
together.

Were I ten again I might have been interested in this one. This is kids stuff.

The original three were part of my childhood, but the prequals didn't quite grab me; especially the first one. I'm curious about this latest instalment, but not enough to warrant a trip to the pictures.

I'll probably go but the Disney hype machine is in overdrive. People tend to forget that the last 3 movies & indeed the end of "Return of the Jedi" how you say, sucked. Hoping for the best but not holding my breath.

Same here, in fact I walked out..................I couldn't stand that squeaky precocious kid in a 'starring' role......(whose name I never learned) - no interest since.

Saw the first film when it first came out in 1977. Some of my friends were at Madison Square Garden that night, seeing Led Zeppelin on what turned out to be their final American tour.

I've hated Star Wars ever since.

I see the run time is 2 hours and 15 minutes. What day does it open in European cities?

Last three Star Wars films SUCKED and this one stars a chick and a black guy.
Sorry, I'm just not feeling it.

Please StonedInTokyo, I think your remark about the tone of skin of one of the main
actors should be reconsidered. (I suppose your remark about the lady in question could
be offensive too, but since my wife is always flattered when I call her "chick" maybe
that's not as bad).

Let the story unfold and then we can decide.

Not trying to offend, merely pointing out the casting reeks of Disney PC. Like I said, I am very skeptical about this film because the last three have SUCKED. Hope I'm wrong and this is the reboot the franchise needs to get back on track.

The original 3 (episodes 4-6) were a part of my childhood as well. Have not even bothered to watch episodes 1-3.

Over the past couple weeks, I have enjoyed reliving the 3 classics with my 10 yr old son. We are both very excited to see the new one.

I am somewhat optimistic with JJ Abrams on board. Already the special effects look way better than the terrible CGI over indulgence that Lucas was seduced by. The only three of the last ones I liked was the final one, Revenge of the Sith. It was ok. But again the special effects made it often look like a comic book, and the writing was dreadful, and some of the acting too! (Anakin! I do like some of Christain Hayden's work, but he isn't the strongest of actors. Life as House he was quite good in though). I will go. But am not as excited as I was about Lord of the Rings (not Hobbit! Those were terrible as he fell victim to the same CGI curse that Lucas had).

Form the prequel trilogy, I've quite enjoyed "The War Of The Clones".

However, the original trilogy was far wittier. Maybe, in this upcoming one, Harrison Ford will bring back some humor.

Generally a devotee of original trilogy (felt it should've ended there, but noooo!). I dislike the massive hype for this, so I will skip watching in the movie theatres. Maybe if it appears on cable and/or on a streaming service.

Also, Disney now has control...which I have issues with.

Some of Lucas' use of CGI on the re-releases of the original trilogy was interesting to say the least. I believe there was further CGI tampering involved with the later Blu-Ray releases; although, I am yet to view these. There are a few 'comparison' videos on You Tube worth watching, actually.

I am in love with Princess Leia (for almost 40 years now). Maybe that is why I´m no big fan of Harrison Ford.

One thing we know for sure, at 2 hours and 15 minutes it's longer than a Stones concert. With a lot more hype.

I wonder though, is the anticipation for this greater for a Star Wars fan than a coming Stones concert for a Stones fan? As with a Stones concert, after the first show or showing with Star Wars, the plot will be revealed for all. The setlist won't change nor will the plot of the movie. But who wants it more...
