Q107 Further Response

It just gets better..here is the latest...

Hey Ross,

Thank you for your email note. We have received an inordinate amount of
negative email concerning the Rolling Stones live broadcast which we
aired last night on Q. You may have received a note from Q107's
Assistant Program Director, Michelle Dyer, or Andrew from Club Q...but I
got thinking..."why should Michelle or Andrew be the one to take the hit
on this. While we did not come right out and say we were doing a
simulcast from the Phoenix, we were perhaps vague in the way we
positioned the program. I take full accountability for how this show was
presented on air. Here's what I've learned. Q listeners are extremely
passionate about their music, and at no time should I take this for
granted. It's not like we aired bootleg Wham concert. Music matters
here.

Having said this...here's how I plan to take responsibility. I have
asked John Derringer if I could be named tomorrow's Tool of The Day. He
has kindly said yes. So, tomorrow tune in at 8:20 to hear me take my
lumps on air and apologize to our audience.

Regards,

Blair Bartrem
Program Director
Q107

Blah..Blah...Blah...

I see that this is another FORM LETTER response. I wonder if he will be "live" on the air to "take his lumps" or will we get a tape of him from 3 years ago!

I was listening last night and they knew exactly what they were doing. I think an idea of how many people actually bought the hoax was the amount of real-time posting that was done about the "live" show. Can you imagine the amount of listeners who didn't have access the expert knowledge of iorr.org or stonesdoug?

That all being said. The program director's response is perfect - proper justice. Had it not been for the response from true Stones fans i am sure the hoax would have gone unnoticed. But, we called bullshit and at least he is owning up and taking his "lumps"

Rare justice in this day and age - I think Stones fans should at least be partially satisfied...

What about that stupid DJ that kept talking? Is he going to be the following day's Tool?

It's just another ploy to get people to tune in during drive time! Screw them!

This was a ratings grab. If you're really pissed don't tell the station. That just validates what they did in their mind because they know you listened. Rather, contact their advertisers and tell them why you won't buy their products or services. That in itself won't upset the programmers either BUT their sales department will make their lives a living hell.

I feel slightly vindicated. I personally sent in atleast 4 emails (my own form emails ofcourse) to each of the individuals listed under the contacts page, whether they were related to news/programing/mornings/evenings. Doesnt matter to me. The whole station should feel the heat on this one. Obviously I'm not alone as their inboxes were filled to the brim shortly after the start of the broadcast. I'm thrilled to call them on their bullshit. I dont listen to much FM radio anyways (too much Cougar, ZZTop, SRV, BTO etc...) but if I did I would no longer listen to this station.

I just wrote a letter to that SCUMBAG BLAIR BARTREM, program director of 107 and let him know what Stones fans think of that TERRIBLY SLEAZY SCAM! I told him he should consider wearing a bullet proof vest, yuck yuck!

thanks for your email ....and we appreciate all comments..good and bad.... this came down from the programming dept ... a last minute creative idea i assume .... we the announcers (myself and carly) .. though it was wrong and misleading to carry out .. as a matter of fact .. i wouldnt say it ... carly did because we were told to say it at some point ...
in defence of the promo dept ... they wanted you to tune in/stay tuned in ... all the announcers had to say at the time of airing was ...'now heres the stones live from the PR a few years ago in toronto' .. thanks for your coments...kim
