Q107 radio : big misunderstanding or big bad trick ?

the DJ said "Stay tune, live in Toronto with the Rolling Stones" !
well well it was a very subtle line indeed !
or did they play with words ? just for fun ?!! LOL !!
because they finally played some songs from Palais Royale in 2002 !! arggghhh..
well, I gave this radio a few days to pack their things, change their names and disappear for ever !
it was a bad joke !

We should have realised it wasn't going to happen. The Stones would never let a crappy radio station like that air their secret club gig. I fell for it too.

Same thing happened when PC was done.
I tried three stations that had promised to broadcast it, noone did.
Luckily rollingstone.com (the magazineĀ“s webissue) sent it.

fuq107 radio full of sh*t

But airing a complete bootleg, I really hope they'll be sued by the Stones or Virgin.

I know how everyone feels, that was bullshit, no doubt about it. They should have been up front with what they were doing.

This is absolute crap. The cement heads at Q107 should kicked in the ass for this sleazy trick. What bullshit. They advertised this all day as being the Live Phoenix show and it obviously was not. Scumbags. I should have known better. The DJ was a guy by the name of John Scoles who made snide comments all night long about the Stones. He even said he did not like them. I imagine he is a huge Michael Bolton fan.

What can you expect from a radio station that hired a has-been rocker by the name of Kim Mitchell as a DJ and touted him as being the second coming of Christ. This guy had a middling career in small bars and backwood venues across Canada at best. The station talks about him as if he actually made a contribution to music. The guy could barely perform and they now have him on as a DJ. Why don't they hire Shania Twain? She is about as articulate as Mitchell.

I'm Canadian and am amazed by what passes for talent sometimes in this country.

Right on, MBA. I've been a long time listener of the Q and over the last few years with the exception of Derringer in the morning the station has steadily gone down hill. Stunts like this wreak of desperation. Mitchell is awefull in the afternoons, Jeff Brown was highly entertaining in that slot before moving on to Ottawa. I listen less and less and last night could be the last straw for me. They should be sued for misleading the public and airing a bootleg. Bastards.

you all are expressing your indignation so well - i just hope you're emailing it to the parties responsible! TakeTeaatThree (thanks!) posted the email addresses of Q107 and the Toronto Star (a newspaper that surely ought to be reporting on this crappy deed) over on shidoobee:

Q107: listenersclub@q107.com

letters to the editor at the Toronto Star: lettertoed@thestar.ca

go for it!

They should be sued by the Stones. The station was loaded with ads, and there have been thousands and thousands of people listening, so they made allot of money yesterday, advertising with a Stones concert they did not broadcast.
