Anyone enter the late-night RS.com contest for Toronto club tickets?

Just curious - the email came in around midnight - i can't imagine that too many people a) got it and b) could arrange to be in Toronto within 14 hours or so. They would call the winners between 7am-10am my time. I checked into flights from Chicago where I live and they were $800 or more. Only an 8 hour drive though so I did research on how to get there went to bed early. No call came though - I'm very disappointed!

Go little queenie go...!!

i didnt get the email, probably 'cos i live in the uk. But i was prepared to spend mega £££ and go, and someone posted the email on this site, so i emailed them but... nothing. The absolute latest i could leave here was a 3:15pm flight from london arriving toronto 6pm!

I was really thinking about getting an earlier flight today into toronto at 2:30pm, but it was too much to spend without a guaranteed ticket, and as i just dound out, all the tickets were sold by 10am at the pheonix, so, just as well i stayed here.

I was so excited earlier when planning what i would do, and now i feel really down, knowing i will not see them...

i considered it (for about 5 seconds). not sure what last-minute airfare from SF to Toronto and back would have cost me - but it wouldn't have been worth it. Given I've seen a couple of theater shows already this would have been a bit of a comedown I think. You have to remember - this will be a relatively shoddy 1-hour performance, judging by recent warmup shows. It'll be exciting for the fans that make it, but hard to justify spending that kind of money....

I didn't get in Switzerland either. I do not know how they decided on the e-mails, but anyway I am very happy for the ones who made it and wish them a wonderful event

I got the call...when I found out at about 9:30pm Tuesday that Q107 made it official that it was at the Phoenix, my buddy and I decided not to go (we live 2 hrs from TO) since we figured most of the almost 1000 in line at that time would not get tix, we figured no point...so I went out with sister and brother-in-law and friends to casino in Niagara Falls...came home at about 3:30am and decided to wait up for my buddy to call at that time from work (this call was pre-planned in case there was no official word that it was the Phoenix, and we would drive to TO at about 5am to catch maybe a surprise change-of-venue announcement by the Q)...as mentioned above, the official announcement came, so in our discussion at 3:30am we confirmed, "Maybe next time!" and so back to work he went and a simple swivel of my deskchair to my computer to open up my email, I read an email about a contest from RS.com (the same one you got)...I thought, "What the hell?!" so I replied, and then went to bed at about 4:45am (after obviously checking out what was being said on iorr.org :-)...next thing i know, my cell is going off at 9am, and it wakes me up...I see it's a 212 area code (NEW YORK CITY), some woman named Maria from RS.com...she says Hello, Mark?...Yes...Do you want to go see the Rolling Stones tonight in Toronto?...and the rest is OBVIOUS! What a day! A day and night I will never forget!

How many people can say they saw the Stones for free, in an intimate setting, 15 feet away, without standing in any type of long lineup?! Not many I bet.

My heart does go out to those who did wait in line, especially to those who didn't get a wristband...i don;t tell you this story to rub it in...I tell you because I never thought I would be this lucky...It CAN happen to you...I did think about those unfortunate fans outside AND those in Europe and around the world...honest, I did...I even wished those who really aren't fans could see what I was seeing - they would then understand the magic that is The Rolling Stones...they were incredible! Mick was simply amazing! (even though I would consider myself a bigger Keith fan...but what counts most is that I am an even bigger ROLLING STONES fan!).

Thank you rollingstones.com and thanks to those who continue to update each other on iorr.org...my passion for this band would not be as great as it is today if I had not discovered you in the past!

Mark

I know it was an awesome time since I was lucky enough to see them in the Roseland last tour...glad to read about someone who got in that really can appreciate it. I am envious, yes, but not in a bad way. I am sure it sounded like they were going to blow the roof off the place!

It was loud! I was in front of the speakers on Keith's side, at a location where I could see beyond the drapery that concealed the view down the hallway that ran along side the stage. The sound of the bass drum from the Trews just pounded me back with gusts from the speaker...The Trews I must admit were fantastic! Great harmonies, great stage presence, good hooks, and a drummer that is solid as a rock - sounds like another drummer I know of ;-)

The Stones rocked the house...as soon as Mick walked out, you knew he meant business, but in an entertaining way - if that makes sense to you.

The sounds was awesome...and the 4 songs they played from the new album - WOW! Especially, Back of My Hand! I honestly think it competes with Little Red Rooster as far as a blues feel goes...Tell me, how many groups today create songs like BOMH? not many, I would wager...What I really like about it is that you can take that song, give it to a blues musician sitting on a porch at dusk about 70 years ago in the Mississippi Delta and it wouldn't miss a beat - that song would be "home".

I also like the Stones' change in tempo for 19th Nervous Breakdown - different, but catchy - albeit, I miss the fact that I cannot see it being performed as it was on Ed Sullivan so many years ago - I guess at times I wish I had been born earlier!

Keith was Keith! 'nuff said!

Ronnie was havin' a great time!

And Charlie was as steady as ever!

Nothing was bad - NOTHING! ALL was good! The best!

This will be an experience like no other. I am 13th row for SKYDOME (ROGERS), and will enjoy that as much, but there will always be something special about that club gig!

The 1000 people sounded like a packed arena...when I walked in, I felt like I was walking into - not a high school - but an elementary school gymnasium!

Anyway, I'm babblin' here...I will let you all go...talk to you soon.

Take care,

Mark

Your not babblin' at all Mark. You were hearing the riffs come right out of Keith's amps...mo PA...right out of his boxes. Is Mick intense or what? I watched the video and they were packed in. Mick likes room to move but close quarters just adds to his ferocity. I hear what you are saying about BOMH. I haven't heard the whole thing but it is right from Rooster style and Exile. That is what makes them great, from the intimacy of a small venue to filling a stadium. They make it happen...speaking of babbling...night all. Gotta make a decision on "On Stage" tickets in a few hours.
