"I wanna be elected" was on the radio when Arnold won in CA.

Yeah, I bought, "Be My Lover" (the single) in June 1972. Great albums are, "Love It To Death", "Killer", and "School's Out". Don't really think much of, "Billion Dollar Babies", but chacun a son gout.

The lyrics and Alice's shrieking + the tight tight tight musicianship make these records ESSENTIAL for early 1970s ROCK ROCK ROCK. Much more than the Stones, Alice Cooper was ROCK, not blues...

Yah, "She axed me whah the singer's name wuz Aahliss/I said listen, baby, you really wouldn't understay-unn". They doan write lyrics lahk thayut anymoe!

I´m actually seeing Alice tonight at Lisebergshallen in Sweden. I´ve been a Cooper fan since mid 80´s,
have my own Cooper site here www.alicecooper.se

I love all the stuff he did from 1971-83. Don´t care much for the late 80s metal stuff though.
The latest album Dirty Diamonds is really great!
Lots of Stonesvibes! check it out!!

The last two albums, Eyes Of..., and Dirty Diamonds are a return to form after more than a decade of heavy metalism. Alice Cooper was the evil incarnate when I was a kid (early 70's), much more so than the Stones at that point.
Boy, those records from Love It To Death to Muscle Of Love rock. When he changed to studio musicians it started to go wrong, but Welcome To My Nightmare is a lot of fun still.
And those old vinyl LP covers: School's Out could be folded into a school desk, Billion Dollar Babies was a wallet, Muscle Of Love sort of a porn shop cardboard-package, later on From The Inside was pretty imaginative too.

From the inside is a truly wonderful album. As is the much underated "Da Da" album.

David Johansen and the new New York Dolls would be awesome. Made a terrific performance at Notodden Blue Festival last saturday.

Johansen, Jagger,... bring on Steven Tyler!

The New York Dolls always sucked. They were never a good band but they got that mythos around them. I would love to see them too but since 3 out of 5 of the original line up (actually 4...their first drummer died on a UK Tour in 1972. Even before the world noticed that there is a band called NYD) are dead it´s not so interesting anymore. Nevertheless David Johanssen and Johnny Thunder were great Mick and Keith wannabee´s. Johannssen still is...

This is an interesting idea that I've pondered myself over the years. I'm sure we all could think of dozens of Classic Rock acts that are still out there working that would be fantastic opening bands for the Stones : i.e. Cooper, Steppenwolf, Blue Oyster Cult, George Thoroughgood, Boston, Fogerty and on and on. Why do the Stones insist on using these lame so-called "Current" acts that nobody really has any interest in? It's quite stupid in my mind.

Anyway, Cooper is great. Saw him on Love it to Death tour, Killer tour, Babies tour and Nightmare tour. He was a true original and a pioneer not to mention some great timeless music in there as well. I've actually been listening to Love it to Death a lot recently. Which one of the 2 new cd's is the better in reference to the old Cooper sound?

Always been a fan of Alice. The era between 71 and 73 is classic. One thing about his band is that the individuals were all great musicians. Dennis Dunaway is still one of my favorite bass players and Neal Smith was an awesome drummer. He said he used to compete with Keith Moon to see who had the biggest drum set. Glen Buxton was a very under rated guitarist (he was one of Randy Rhoad's favorites) and Michael Bruce was a good guitarist/keyboardist and songwriter.
Watching an interview with AC, he said the biggest reason the original band split up is that in those years between 71 and 73, they did nothing but record and then tour. Four albums in three years! They didn't really stop and take time to enjoy their success. Kind of like the Stones between 63-65.

I love Alice Cooper but in the early 70's The Stones could rock Alice into his grave live AND play the blues which Cooper could never do. Good band live but not in the same class with The Stones. Not a good opening act for The Stones either.

I ain't stupid, I'm just guitarded.

I'd say The Eyes Of... is the better album, but Dirty Diamonds leans a bit more towards the 70's. Neither one sounds like Alice 30 odd years ago, it's more like the songwriting and guitar playing is in that vein rather than heavy metal.

Cooper stinks these days. He is soft & enjoys his country club golf (and bible thumping) too much. If he opens a gig I'm at...I'll certainly be in the parking lot drinkin' my Jack to some good rock n' roll on the stereo.

I saw Alice in Tampere Finland last week and it was a really great show, but the opening band was Hanoi Rocks and if they would open for Stones I'd be in rock'n'roll heaven. They're awesome live, check them out if you have a chance!

Ol´ Vincent has a special part in me heart after I bumped into the man
in my god-forsaken bird-spot of a city a few years ago.
Guess you could say Jagger as well as Keefster are quite soft in weekdays
off-tour nowadays too.
...But I´m not takin part in the thread´s issue here; but Alice is a living legend &
has been boozing a lot with Jim Morrison ("errr, who hasnt", asks Iggy Pop).

Just heard "Dirty Diamponds". I loved "The Ballad of Jesse Jane". A classic Cooper ballad. Excellant.

Alice has been a serious golfer since the mid 70's. From what I understand he's pretty good at it. He was good friends with Morrison and the Doors. Desperado off of Killers is a tribute to Morrison.

Who are the current musicians in his band? The Brutal Planet DVD I have has Ryan Roxie and Pete Friesen on guitars, Greg Smith on Bass and Eric Singer on Drums (also plays with KISS).

WOW! I just heard the Coop's version of "Start me Up" (it'a a medley with a Beatles cut and the Who's "5:15"). It blew me fu_kin' 'ead off !

Proof positive that the Coop is one of the greatest of ALL TIME !
