The Toronto Sun is reporting the Stones will do a club gig in Toronto on Wed of this week - read on:

Sources tell the Toronto Sun the gig is a "thank you" to what Mick Jagger has called "our favourite city" and the band's home away from home.

The Stones have been here this summer rehearsing for their upcoming tour, which starts in two weeks at Fenway Park in Boston and hits Toronto Sept. 26 at the Rogers Centre.

That has Stones' fans hyper-speculating because, based on past practice, they're overdue to play one of their now-legendary surprise club gigs in Toronto.

"There have been three places in the running," a source said.

Another insider said a decision on where the Stones play is customarily made on the afternoon of the outing, but the band is revved up to perform tomorrow night.

"The tickets will be first-come, first-serve and a small cover charge at the door."

The three times that the Stones previously have warmed up for a world tour in Toronto, they played an intimate, next-to-impossible-to-score-a-ticket-to club show here approximately two weeks before the tour's first concert:


On Tuesday, July 19, 1994 the Stones played at RPM (now the Kool Haus), 13 days before the tour launch.

On Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997 they rocked the Horseshoe, 19 days before the tour launch.

On Friday, Aug. 16, 2002 they ripped the Palais Royale, 18 days before the tour launch.
A Bigger Bang, is due to hit record stores Sept. 6.

Thanks for clarifying this Gazza. Just read it and thought it might be interesting, don't know how reliable the information is.

Hmmmm. For the Palais the message leaked out at the
gate the NIGHT before, around midnight, and was
on the radio the MORNING of the show. Also,
I understand a special stage had all ready
been made, to set up there.............

Well, let's hope they are right anyway
and the boys go for it...................

Stones have apparantly said if anyone leaks this
they'll cut and run, so this should be very interesting
indeed........................................Could
be a lot of monkey business going on all around,
but I'd say if you read between the lines..............

Just saw on CP24, a Toronto station, news about the show tomorrow. They mentioned the three venues that may have the show but I don't remember any of them. They also said the Stones were going to do an interview on Much Music, which is the Canadian version of MTV.

Seems like something is going on in Toronto, people waiting in line for the Phoenix, no idea. So the Gig could be tomorrow. Seems like no rehearsals today. I assume someone surely knows more. Wishing all those people the best in Toronto while in Europe we wait until winter's over.

Greetings to all fellow Stones fans. This is my first post (though I've "lurked" here for quite awhile).

Anyway, I live in Toronto and my sister is the executive assistant to the president of a major broadcasting company here in town.

Naturally, I contacted her to see if the "industry insiders" could confirm or deny the rumours of the show. Not only did she find out the show was happening, she could have gotten a ticket. However, she HAD to use the ticket herself and since she's not a Stones fan, she turned it down. (Yes, I know how you all must be feeling about this...I'm feeling the same thing. A small consolation is that she would have taken me if she could have got 2 tickets but it was no go...one ticket only or nothing).

Anyway, to me this confirms the rumours.

See you at the Rogers Centre next month!

Next time, tell her to get the ticket ... disguise yourself as her and go to the show (If you're a guy it may be slightly more challenging) but worth it!
