Incendiary. One of Australia's great ever bands.

U.S. Forces
US Forces gives the nod
It's a setback for your country
Bombs and trenches all in rows
Bombs and threats still ask for more

Divided world the CIA
Say who control the issue
You leave us with no time to talk
You can write your own assessment

Sing me songs of no denying
Seems to me too many trying
Waiting for the next big thing

Will you know it when you see it
High risk children dogs of war
Now market movements call the shots
Business deals in parking lots
Waiting for the meat of tomorrow

Sing me songs of no denying
Seems to me too many trying
Waiting for the next big thing

Everyone is too stoned to start emission
People too scared to go to prison
We're unable to make decisions
Political party line don't cross that floor
L. Ron Hubbard can't save your life
Super boy takes a plutonium wife
In the shadow of ban the bomb we live

Sing me songs of no denying
Seems to me too many trying
Waiting for the next big thing

Sing me songs of no denying
Seems to me too many trying
Waiting for the next big thing

Sing me songs of no denying
Seems to me too many trying
Waiting for the next big
We can wait no longer, wait no longer, wait no longer

We're waiting
We're waiting
We're waiting

A couple of months prior to this gig,Midnight Oil were the support act for two UK gigs by The Who.
They subsequently knocked back the support slot for The Who's 82 American tour!

Midnight Oil was an awesome band. Very unique & the records still sound good today. I got to meet them once & they were very nice guys, too. Always a bonus. They did hurt me once though. Toward the end, they played a pretty small club in Seattle. The show was pretty loud during the set, then came the encores. Think they turned it up to 11. I literally felt something pop in my ear. Still get some pain to this day. Paying the cost! I really like a lot of Aussie/Kiwi bands & musicians. Don't know what it is, something in the water or convict lineage perhaps, haha. Kind of hard to keep up sometimes, as I live in the NW USA. The computer age has helped that a lot. I think the Aussie band thing started for me when I was in high school. I went to see a Ted Nugent show (folly of youth) & opening were Cheap Trick & a relatively obscure band called AC/DC. I knew a little about them & was so blown away I went back the next night & saw the show again. I still like AC/DC but having seen them with Bon Scott in that setting, its not quite the same. I did make a pilgrimage to the great Southland in 2001 & saw a lot of good music. Was lucky enough to see AC/DC on the last night of a 7 night stand in a relatively small arena in Sydney. Some other acts from that part of the world that are way up on my favorite list are You Am I, Neil Finn & the Hoodoo Gurus. To name a few. I think Melbourne is my favorite city that I have visited. Would move there in a heartbeat if the opportunity presented itself. Really loved the St. Kilda district amongst others. Back to the Oils. I hope they get together & put out some new music sometime. Their voice is needed in these times.smoking smiley

Three members of The Oil's are currently playing in this band, along with the bassist from The Violent Femmes.
They're called The Break.
