" On “Love Is Strong,” which you recorded with the Stones, the background vocals are very reminiscent of the Temptations. Would you agree?

Fowler: Yes, yes, yes. I can hear that.
"

background vocals on Love Is Strong are similar to the Temptations..?

not really..

Seems like the interviewer was trying to kiss his ass with that question.
His answer is also B.S. - he'd probably never thought of that comparison "Yes, yes, yes..." haha yeah right.
Not only are there no any similarities to Love is Strong, his vocals are a million miles from anything Temptations related.

they are similar in that "love is strong" has background vocals and the temptations had background vocals in their songs...

;-)

I recomend Bernard's new album ...

Thanks but honestly I can't imagine I'd ever get it. Seriously I'd likely not even download if it were free. Now put some Stones on it (which I think he did previously, and I think I have that album) and I'm all in!

I can't wait for Bernard and Darryl to improve the Stones after Bill left. And I'm waiting....

Same here. Clear case of someone regarding his poor self as all too important.

in addition to the one about Bill, here are a few others I found highly questionable..:

“Helter Skelter” was inspired by an article I read about (mass murderer) Charles Manson. I kind of feel l like my cover better than most of the others ones I’ve heard.

wtf?? are there, like, a lot of covers of this song..?

"Herbie Hancock is the best keyboard player in the world. "

oh really?

Well, his take on HS is at least better than Mötley Crüe's grinning smiley

Nice interview. I liked to read that he worked with John Lydon, I never knew that. Quite a different thing from the Stones.

Examiner: Can you give me good Keith story?

Fowler: This is typical Keith. We’d be on the road touring and would be in a place where there are some young guys who are all excited because they finally get to meet Keith. They want to hang out with him and impress him by having like four drinks and really tearing it up, because that’s what they expect Keith to do. What they don’t realize is that Keith will nurse one drink for two, three hours.. They end up getting f….d up, and then Keith will say to me, “OK. Time to go. Let’s get out of here. Amateurs.”

I'm sure he refers to many on this forum here grinning smiley

I'm huge Stones Fan, but Bill Wyman was not a great bass player. he can't shine Jones shoes.

What about this one:

"I don’t know if my version (of “Knocking”) is actually better than theirs, but it’s definitely funkier".

I mean, he's even taken into consideration that his rendition could be better than the original???!!!

Is this a joke?

that last line is disturbing: "As long as everyone stays healthy, they’ll do it, but I’ve heard Keith say more than once to me that, for him, more than likely it’ll end onstage, and Keith’s a man of his word."

That may be true, but no one fits the Stones as well as Wyman did.

Sorry, but Bernard's version of Can't You Hear Me Knocking comes nowhere even close to being as good as the original. It sounds tired and pedestrian! It's boring, and nothing can compare to Keith's vicious slashing rhythm, Charlie's beautiful jazz drumming on a hard rocking song, Mick Jagger's howling vocals with grit and angst singing about his friend's habit, and Mick Taylor's transcendent leads, all topped off with a steady bass and percussion back beat. Yeah, sorry Bernard, your not even in the same galaxy as the classic original, and I wonder why you even tried and released this version?

Except it sounds 90 percent like the intro riff and wordless vocals to Papa Was a Rollin' Stone.

I don't hear that in LIS. Definitely in "Out Of Control" and they even acknowledge it. Fowler is not even in the same musical universe as Ruffin, Kendricks et al,in my humble.

thumbs upsmileys with beer

Maybe Bill would have a hard time shining Darryl's shoes, but Darryl can't play rock bass in the Rolling Stones for shit or shinola.
