One of the best lines in one of the best Stones songs ever written. Nice work with sssoul.

Thanks for providing the correct answer, with sssoul. These obviously aren't tricky enough...

Hopefully Olly is not discouraged by a critic and has given up. Although I may
never come close to a right answer these were still a lot of fun and a pleasent
diversion.

It feels like waiting for a tour announcement...
But I can see that it takes some time to create a brilliant puzzle.
Let's give Olly some time.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

A cryptic clue to a line or phrase from a Stones song:

Idle and aggressive; requested to undergo that which is mentioned in a Shakespeare sonnet, the title of which is a number that relates to a Wyman-less Stones tour.

Which lyric am I?

"Respectable"

Ok I'm thinking out loud here...

Wyman-less Stones Tour---> 14 on Fire

Sonnet 14---> Not from the stars do I my judgment pluck

Requested to undergo----> Judgement

Idle and Agressive---> ???

Wymanless tours start with 94, though, so we have a few sonnets to ponder.

But he specifically says "the title of which refers to a number...", so it seems either 14 on fire or 50 and counting are the candidates, I don't think the number refers to the year of the tour but who knows, that gets complicated pretty quickly.

Using 50 and counting we have

Sonnet 50---> How heavy do I journey on the way

Requested to undergo---> Journey

To me that means the title of the sonnet is a number related to a tour without Wyman.
Not the "title" of a tour. I mean: All the sonnets have numbers as "titles", but the one we want
has a number that's related to a Wyman-less Stones tour. That's my understanding.

I'll take a stab at it:

Sonnet 2 is titled, from what I gather, When forty winters shall beseige thy brow.

So they lyric could be... from FORTY LICKS and the LICKS tour from Don't Stop?

Well the only thing I ask of you
Is to hand me back some pride

Yeah you are right but what could he be referring to when talking about a tour in that manner?...the name of the tour sounds most probable, otherwise the possibilities become endless.

Wymanless Stones tours
VOODOO
BRIDGES
NO SECURITY-BRIDGES
LICKS or FORTY LICKS
A BIGGER BANG
50 & COUNTING
STONES ON FIRE twice

The only one that made sense to me was the FORTY LICKS tour.

Yes, good point, I'll clarify: the number of the sonnet is the number of shows performed on one of the Wyman-less tours.

Maybe 40 Licks?

Sonnet 40:

Take all my loves, my love, yea take them all;
What hast thou then more than thou hadst before?
No love, my love, that thou mayst true love call;

The Worst:

You trust me too much, you see
Take all the pain, it's yours anyway
Oh, put the blame on me
You ought to pass, you see
Somewhere outside, I threw love aside...

VOODOO 129 shows
BRIDGES 97
NO SECURITY 43
LICKS 117
BANG 147
50 & COUNTING 30
14 ON FIRE 29
ZIP CODE 15

So...

15 When I consider every thing that grows
29 When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes
30 When to the sessions of sweet silent thought
43 When most I wink, then do mine eyes best see
97 How like a winter hath my absence been
117 Accuse me thus: that I have scanted all
129 The expense of spirit in a waste of shame
147 My love is as a fever, longing still

Eh, Olly, come on, man! No wonder I hate crossword puzzles!

Yes, you're looking for a word in one of these sonnets, but not necessarily in the first line.

If I told you which sonnet it would be far too easy... plus you have the first part of the clue to give an indication.

OK some nice clues there Olly thanks, I think quite necessary ones in this case because it appears you have dug deep in the well of cryptic with your first one.

Also thanks GLS for the research.
