Angie - best live version

Interesting one. One of their most famous songs but (probobly) not à favourite within their fanbase.

I really love the version fr.o.m. Leeds 1982. Really cool. Brussels close second.

What do you think?

Agreed. The Newcastle 73 version is pretty good too but early Brussels takes the prize.

If I had to dance with a girl on one of those two versions, the Brussels version would make me 'horny', to put it straight.smiling smiley

want to post the link just to make it easier, as some of us (like me) have to quote you to be able to see it smiling smiley

I have always been a sucker for ballads, and this and Wild Horses were the first Stones songs that I knew and loved.

I like Mick's smoother vocals on more recent versions but I agree the guitars on this are as good as it gets.

Haven't heard this song in a long while so I can't weigh in on the best live Stones version. But I did think of something regarding the song itself. Check out this cover by Womack and Womack from their excellent Love Wars album. Would love to hear this arrangement done by the Stones with Mick reaching for that falsetto.

This is an EASY one.

1) Brussels '73 Early Show

2) Newcastle '73

3) Leeds '82

4) Paris '76 ( I can't remember which exact show. )

Followed by .....

* '14 On Fire

* Licks Tour 2002

* Japan '95 ( Bridges to Babylon Japanese CD Bonus Track )

The versions from at least '89 onwards are too short for some reason.

If I try to be objective, the one that was on this Brussels Affair

must be the "most perfect" live version.

But I can't help it, I am not objective and for me the "slow" 75 take will always be something else!

I'll take the Taylor era versions. I don't care for the more recent versions because they skip a verse so the song is shorter.

Never liked this song. Hardly ever listen to it and when then I´m almost bored to death. Studio-version/live-versions all the same boring.They wanted a big hit back then and they got it. But the song is awful. 70ies-Stones with strings, oh my goodness.

Wow. I have that album and never knew Angie was on it! Just looked and they didn't add Angie until July 7th on that tour!

It is pretty good. I still prefer the Brussels version.
