YCAGWYW-best live version

Another one...your opinions

I like the Brussels version and actually the Ernie Watts version from Hampton 81.

I never really liked the "truetotheoriginal"-way of playing it. Too much Vegas. But strangely enough ...now a fan of the choir-versions from 2012 on. That really worked.

Also...a fan of the 75-tour version. Ronnie is really good. But ...two problems...

1/That Mick J never showed up for this tour.
2/Keith decided to hire the Cookie Monster as the new lead singer...

Now that's a tough question... Very difficult to answer.

Agree. Love You Live Version is marvelous, like it the best. But other versions are pretty good too.

"voulez vous chanter avec moi ?"

I know most people don't like the Let's spend the night together movie, but I think on blu ray it's awesome...
and the YCAGWYW version is exellent and also fun to watch, with Keith waving with his arms into the air during the song and a realy kicking ass solo from Ronnie. Yeah, this is my favorite version.

Far and away Brussels '73. Hampton '81 a distant second

Brussels 73. Love the interplay between Taylor and Wyman during the solos. Takes up all of Side 3 on the vinyl.

The one from LSTNT, but taken from boots (as everything you hear on the film itself has been sped-up). What was it : 1981-11-05?

1. Love You Live
2. Zürich 2014
3. Rio 2006
4. Brüssel 1973 first show
5. Hampton 1981

After all these years: Still one of my faves ;-)

I don't think YCAHWYW has ever been done as well live as it was in the studio on LIB.

And isn't it strange that half of LIB has such songs, and yet the other half has songs that are much, much better live?

LIB songs never performed better live:
YCAGWYW, GS, LIB, CH, MM,

LIB songs much, much better live than on LIB:
MR, LWM, LIV

In my opinion, YGS is the only song that's great on both the album and live.

Two versions

1973-10-17 Foret Nationale (1st show), Brussels, Belgium,
1972-06-24 Tarrant County Convention Center - Fort Worth, TX (2nd shows)

I'm not really able to offer an opinion on the best live version as, like Turner68, I don't think it works particularly well live.

I certainly don't think it deserves an unchallenged place in the encore. I've long thought that 'Midnight Rambler' would work better as a first encore, with 'You Can't Always Get What You Want', if played, having a position earlier in the set, as it did at Twickenham in 2003.

An opportunity for a bit of crowd participation; not worthy of being present at the climax of a show.

Admittedly, the live choir is a nice touch, but I don't feel the song has the right mood for an encore.

I won't be disappointed if I never see Matt Clifford emerge from the wings clutching his french horn again.

.....

Olly.

There are a few things about this version I don't like! Let me try and put my finger on what......

Jagger's awful vocals.
Chuck's terrible plink plonk playing is far too high in the mix.
The guitars are far too low in the mix.
The annoying background vocals.
Also, any version of this song where Mick tries to encourage crowd participation is an automatic fail for me.

Apart from that, it's not bad!

In your world .... maybe. I'll take the 1973 live YCAGWYW over the studio version if forced to choose. I wish that there were a better recording of Birmingham '73.

The '72 L & G soundtrack YCAGWYW is also right up there.
