Interesting...
How were they in '84?
In '84 there was a lot of tension, because M&K were disagreeing about musical ideas at the time, and Mick was trying out Just Another Night on stage, so the tour was cut short when Keith tried to throw a TV out the window on Mick's head...
He was unsucessful, I presume?

1792 was the best.

I have been pretty critical and sometimes doubtful of the Stones these last 15 years or so. But I have to be honest, starting with the 50 and Counting, to the 14 on Fire, and the current Zip Code tour, I think they're easily the best since the No Security tour in 99. I honestly thought they were finished after the mostly abysmal shows on the Bigger Bang tour, but they have returned in a powerful way. The show I saw here in Nashville 2 weeks ago? Loud, dirty rock and roll! Everybody was firing on all cylinders. There were some off moments, I admit (Brown Sugar was dead on arrival, as was Tumbling Dice), but otherwise they killed it in a way they haven't in over 15 years. The setlists may not be as interesting as the Licks tour, and they may not have a new album to promote, but the batteries seem to be recharged, especially in Keith and Ronnie. Woody has especially impressed me the last 2 years. It's encouraging to know that, age be damned, we haven't lost our Stones yet!
