Saw Ronnie in the same club in 89. Buddy's awesome.
I was there that night in 89 also. I think it was a Sunday night. Bill Wyman
and Chuck were there also. Wow that was 26 years ago.
interesting. i didn't see them. we were sitting in the front row, it was an amazing show. ronnie and his wife came and sat in the VIP section up front by the stage - i guess chuck and bill w stayed in the back?

Maybe you were there a different night during that time in 89? Bill was up
Next to the stage along with Ronnie. Buddy had fim crews filming his set
and I suppose hopefull the stones would take the stage. The room was not full
and they stopped letting people in. The rumour was the rest of the band
was on their way down. Ronnie latter came on stage with Buddy and told the
audience they would love to play but their contract would not allow. This was
during the time the stones played three shows at Alpine Valley.

Nothing written about or talked about anywhere in Chicago...I wonder why.
They always make it a point to get publicity especially to hype a tour.
Has anyone heard anything on Chicago Radio Station WXRT...As we know anything the Stones do is big news...Curious as to why the day after it happened it is quiet.
Nothing on the internet...is anyone sure that this really happened ????

Yep it was that exact time. I remember everything but bill being there. I guess we just didn't see him. And yes buddy kept talking about "you never know who you'll see tonight". It was the night they had off while playing the 3 shows at Alpine Valley.

In February 2012 Mick Jagger, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Jeff Beck and others played the White House. It was surreal to see Mick sing "Can't Turn You Loose" and "Miss You" in front of the old portrait of George Washington, under a giant crystal chandelier, while President Obama and his wife listened. Obama's wife wore a dress designed by L'Wren who was also there. The "White House Tribute Concert for the Blues". I recall Buddy handing Obama a microphone trying to get him to sing "Sweet Home Chicago" because they both had lived in Chicago. It was broadcast on PBS.

It was also streamed live on the internet. I got up at 2AM or so just to see if by any chance I could see a little of it
from the farfetched place I live, and much to my surprise there it alllllll was, as it happened,
fvkc-ups, retakes and all. Surreal to see indeed, and what a joy! The Mick, bless his face, was really jittery
until he came back with Buddy Guy for Sweet Home Chicago. I'm convinced Buddy Guy wisely shared a joint with him
to settle his nerves. Trust a pro. It was a mighty fine show.

They are just so cool. This is an amazing story already and then the little details like this just make me so happy that they got a somewhat "normal" night out

it was a treat to be able to watch that live.
EDIT...I should say, live on the internet!

That's what this thread is all about: [www.iorr.org] , albeit from a different perspective.
I'm pleased that I figured out what Jimmy Buddy Guy was talking about in that instagram clip
and displeased that Rolling Stone journalists and their editors don't know a Guild when they see one.
