here is some fresh information I received this morning from Virgin/EMI which I have just added to the Forty Licks Fanclub website:

The album: Virgin/EMI confirm that there will be only one version with one cover of the album. There have been talks about releasing an extra version with an additional short DVD, but that has been cancelled. There will be 2LP vinyl version though.

As to the single Streets Of Love / Rough Justice : there will be a 7" red vinyl limited edition and a 2 track cd-single in a carton box. A 2 track cd-single will be released in a jewel case in Great Britain.

damn. They should have definitely included a DVD!

My understanding is Sony, among others, is no longer making SACDs - are they still making players or phasing out as a format? Also, dont need a 'bonus' dvd - the couple cds w/ bonus dvds I've bought have been somewhat superfluous - Beck's last for example. Happy about the vinyl tho.

Yeah. It's the fourth double album by so far. There also exists a double LP version of Voodoo Lounge. Call me old fashionable but I think to think of the albums in terms of sides. You know, the flip side of Tattoo You; El Mocambo side are old Stones folklore. It's nice to view the songs in a shorter run than the endless and shapeless succession provided by CD. Each side is a story of it's own; an integrated whole. Putting a new side always gives a short off new fresh start.. You know, like "Happy" or "All Down The Line" in Exile has the same sort of effect than "Rocks Off" as the opener.

Okay, okay.. I know this don't suit in CD formats anymore; records are not collected like this way anymore. And the cover art...Sad but true..

I think the artwork on VL works better on lp, including the post-mortem BB artwork inside the gatefold. Too bad B2B had a 2 cds stuffed into a single cardboard jacket. BTW Stripped sounds much warmer & more detailed on vinyl (Voodoo not noticeably)

Thrilled to hear about the vinyl. Specially the limited edition red vinyl. Will look great next to my pink Miss You vinyl.

From amazon.com (and amazon.co.uk) you can pre-order the album in two different versions the other one is "clean". I wonder what that means... is the other "dirty"? The covers look the same. Lyrics maybe...

it's also interesting that amazon's got it listed as Bigger Bang, not *A* Bigger Bang. which is it, really?

Sad that R&R Cirkus and 40 Licks were left out from the vinyl fomat. If they would have been included, then their total production for more than 40 years would have been on vinyl, appart from some dance / club mixes on the CD singles.

Interesting enough that amazon.de (Germany) and amazon.com (US) have no entry for BIGGER BANG up till now. an amazon UK shows the well know cover print - anybody believing they won't put some title on the sleeve????
