Otis Redding Live in Europe

One of my all-time favorite recordings, I picked up the CD used today. It is one of the most exciting live preformances by anyone, anytime. He, of course, covers Satisfaction, and does I've Been Loving You Too Long. Any other Otis fans here?

What label is this on?

Sundazed label has it on vinyl (see their website), w/ best sound. They have several Otis classics re-mastered & w/ original cover art. Also on an early 90s Rhino cd.

Love Otis....All the Stax albums are available

Otis Blue was released on Mobile Fidelity but probably hard to find now.

Otis Redding Its Not Sentimental - CDSXD 041
contains 14 unrealesed tracks and 7 out-takes

The 1000 - 4000 Volts Of Stax series contain Otis material different takes etc

The Complete Stax Box Singles 1959 - 1968 has the Otis A/B 7" singles and is worth every cent just to get your hands on the rare and incredible Dont Leave Me This Way B-side of Come To Me.

OTIS The Definitive Version - 3CD box set has Otis' three early pre-Stax Little Richard style recordings - She's Alright, Gettin' Hip & Shout Bamalama

was just listening to the great Otis today - a bootleg called Soupcan of Soul - live recordings from '67 - great, great stuff. I could listen to this man sing all day. If you think Mick's take on the Licks version of That's How Strong My Love Is was okay - you should listen to the Master do it.

I love Otis. Possibly one of my top 5 of all time. I am going currently going to school near the part of Georgia where he is from. Much of his family is still around and have been pointed out at restraunts and such every now and again. Well I have heard a story about him from "credible sources" who have seen the building "first hand" but I can not actually believe its true. The story is that Otis' mother had him embalmed and put in a mosiliem (sp sorry no coffee yet) that is either attached to her house or on her property. The wierd part is that thier is a button that can be pushed and he can be viewed much like Lenin. Very odd story. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

He died in '67 or '68 in a plane crach in Wisconsin following a concert. That really is a bizarre story about the "viewing".

Otis died in a lake near Madison, WI on Dec. 10, 1967. He was THE MAN.

I googled Otis Redding and Grave but could not come up with anything definitive either way. At least not without a suscription. Who knows, stranger things have happened.

Brian - do you have the boot Soupcan of Soul? It's currently being torrented on various download sites. Excellent concert material from '67....

Yeah that's a good boot.

I think for years, 69 thru the 70's anyway,
the Stones use to play Otis version of Satisfaction
live in concert. Compare them sometime and see.............no?

Absolutely - Mick acknowledged that they were paying homage to Otis with the 69-70 arrangement.

Swedish telly has showed - not too long ago & by Musikbyrån-editors
from Växjö as I remember - the Otis-performance from (1967?) here.
I can make some diggin for it if there´s interest around here?
In an earlier thread I´ve given links to his site.
Otis is like the other side of the Stones-coin.

How about the 1990 performances of "Satisfaction"--documented by "At The Max?" Certainly owes a debt to Otis...
