It's interesting to see a young person's perspective. All us veterans who have seen them dozens of times over the decades would love shows with just a few warhorses and mostly obscure cuts, recent stuff like Love is Strong Anybody Seen, Flip the Switch, etc. but these young fans WANT to hear Sympathy SMU, HTW Miss You and would feel gypped without them.

To the OP -- your question is an eternal one. Like nature vs. nurture. Who really knows?

I see where your going. Thank you.

If they would JUST DROP "Doom and Gloom" and put in something like All Down The Line or CYHMK or Sway, I'd be somewhat happy.

I honestly believe it they made this small change, folks would be much happier!

It's fine, not many 11 year old girls love the Rolling Stones though. So I see where you would make that assumption.

My son is 14 and this is a big summer this year for him as he will be attending his first 'Stones' show and 'AC/DC' show. It is all he can talk about lately.

Was just discussing yesterday how fortunate I've been to catch some rare treats live. In 35 shows in US and Candada starting in 1972, have heard the following....

Luxury
Tops
Mona - how many times has this been performed in the modern era?
Down the Road Apiece
Mr Pitiful
I Got the Blues
Sway premiere
Soul Survivor (heard loud and clear at a soundcheck)
Heart of Stone
Hang on Sloopy
Hot Stuff - how many times has this been played live in the USA??
Sad, Sad, Sad - only performance of the Licks tour? Tower 2002
Waiting on a Friend - only performance of the Licks tour? United Center 2003

Not bad for only 35 shows.

"Soul Survivor" would make the trip to Buffalo all worth it. Seriously. They could play "Soul Survivor" and "You Got Me Rocking" or "Miss You" 19 times in a row and I would take that set list at this point.

They are playing those. They played 2 out of those 3 in San Diego last week.

I am not sure about "Sway" WITHOUT Taylor. It is probably on the menu, though, for at least one in the next handful of shows. It shouldn't be likely in Atlanta but, otherwise,it could be an option if they don't continue to cut down on the 'Sticky Fingers' section of the set.

If they were to drop "Doom and Gloom",they should replace it with another modern song. At least from '83 onwards. Otherwise, the set would become too out of time.

They could easily do songs like Lady Jane, Silver train, or Play with fire (which was very moving in 1989, according to the recordings). Even Heart of Stone would work in a stadium, I'm sure.

I hope they do at least one of them saltoftheearth!

-RS

This is what I am talking about. At least 2 or 3 of them are from greatest hits albums. And,yes, there would still be room for warhorses. Even if they played all four of them.
