From a european point of view you're right. But on this tour there seemed enough people with the attitude "front row or not at all" and willing to pay $400 for that.
So it might add up. We will see as the crowd fills. It seems very few seats for such a vast place as of now.

Okay most of you say it's about money, but I don't really understand. Wouldn't it bring more money to have a sold-out show with 150$ Tickets, people standing close to each other and the whole stadium would be full?

Not necessarily. It depends on how much you have to lower the prices to fill the stadium. Selling 200$ tickets to 20000 people makes more money than selling 50$ tickets to 60000. Of course other things like merch and beer and so on have to be considered as well, but you can be sure that the stones organization knows exactly what they are doing. If a show is sold out, the ticket prices were too low >grinning smiley<

I seriously hope you all have a wonderful show tonight! This is the one gig I had planned to attend but got sabotage by a family event. I will definitely be following along via phone and Twitter.

If any of you have floor seats tonight it would be awesome to see a few photos of where the PA system hang in relation to the seating chart. The floor layout is very similar while the other stadiums on the tour as opposed to San Diego which had to compensate for the baseball layout.

Drake, I'll get some floor pics for you, I'm on the floor. :-)

Awesome! Hope you guys have a great show! So many wonderful IORRers will be at this one!

The prices of the first 3 rows subsidize those empty sections.

It's a proper stadium without a home base, still there are large seatless areas in the back.
Did the promoter adjust the number of seats to the sales or is this usual?

[twitter.com]

You can see from your picture that that was the furthest back they could fit their wide stage with the big screens in that oval infield. Pretty sure that's the reason for all the seatless areas in the back. Lets just hope there aren't as many seatless areas in front of the stage. eye popping smiley I'm really thinking this one is far from sold out.

Hope someone gets some good pictures of the crowd and all the LD ticket holders get fantastic upgrades!

peace

That was my guess before I read your comment. Considering they played it at the private show, it seemed like a lock. Funny how these things work out.

Still don't get the point. Firebird you're absolutely right. But why then doing a stadium show? They could also do arena shows with 20000-30000 seats and they would get the same money. For me the point of a stadium show is to play as many people as possible. And the stones would fill those stadium within minutes, even for 200$ per GA ticket. And 60.000 200$ tickets would make the same money as 30.000 400$ tickets.
Isn't is much more fun to play to an energetic and younger crowd with less space between the people than to rich old people?
For their Fonda gig they extra picked younger people and models, but in reality they rather want to play to an older crowd?!

I'll never understand how ticketing works. If you go to Ticketmaster right now, there is not a single ticket available for this show.

There is the setlist, can anyone enhance it and decipher?

That sure looks like a joint in the ashtray. Too skinny for a cigarette and no filter hanging over the edge. Hit it Keith!

I think you overestimate the Stones' ability to sell out a GA style show. Notice in some of the pictures that A LOT of the people down in those $500+ seats are an average of 50+ years of age. How many people over 50 will be willing to pay $200 to be squished against everyone around them? I know in theory it'd be more money, but really, it would be mostly young people who go to the GA. And how many 'young' people are going to go to a Stones' show for $200? I will go out on a limb and say that only a huge fan would spend $200 on a ticket. Are there enough young fans to sell out 60,000 tickets? I really don't think so..
