On the bbc website stating that ticket sales are 12% down in the usa citing high ticket prices.

U2 were the highest selling + the stones & macartney were selling fast.

I believe people are tired of shelling out big bucks to our boys (who are millionares many times over). I know I am. I will not see them this time around unless I can score a ticket at the Beacon, and if the tickets are over $125 maybe not even there. I've seen them every tour since '72 (tickets were $7.50 at the Garden!) but the 1/18/03 show at the Garden may well have been "The Last Time" for me..sad smiley

I know what you mean. I'm going to the show in Ottawa (2 $99 tickets, decent seats too) and I'm sure I'll have a good time but that will probably be it for me this tour. I live in Toronto but I refuse to shell out a grand for a pair of tickets to the show here. ( It's freaking insane and I'm not rich) And I also refuse to sit eight miles away in a stadium at a $100 a pop. I've been to quite a few shows as well but not this time around.

I know the feeling and come next summer shelling out big money i will be hesitating but deep down i know i will end up seeing them at least twice in the uk and hopefully once either in spain or amesterdam.

Its getting like that with the football and just having to fork out just over a £1000 for two season tickets and then hearing a guy is going to be on a £100,000 a week, well what can you say i dont begrudge anybody earning a decent crust but this is getting silly.

I think it depends on how much it is worth. If one would have gained more money and have a fairly good safe deposit you might not think about the ticket prices. But as not only sales are down also salaries (except for the ones who cash in and leave a destroyed company) are decreasing we have to turn the buck twice and think how we manage our living expenses and little luxuries like a Stones concert.

I too saw them in "The Garden" back in '72. For me, I refuse to ever shell out money to see them in a stadium again ('78 Philly, '94 Raleigh, '97 Charlotte) unless one is close even with the huge screens the sound and performance is totally different.

I saw them in arena settings ('75 The Garden, '81 Brendan Byrne Arena, '99 Charlotte, '02 The Garden, '05 Charlotte) and I can honestly say the sound and atmosphere are far better and the visibility is also much better.

I can understand the increased ticket prices but since '75 we only had the 2 hour shows. Personally, they should leave the "warm up" acts behind and give the fans a 3 hour performance(that should equate to maybe 4 or 5 extra songs, not too much to ask IMHO).

Well...it's a little hard to justify paying that much money to see these guys play stuff we've heard time and time again. And let's face it: They are probably going to do a live "Act" that is very similar to the last 2-3 tours.

And who is going to go see them except older white folks and people that want to be at a Stones "event"? I tend to doubt you will see a lot of people in their 20s at these shows and they are the one's that have more disposable income. Us 30-40+ year olds have other stuff to spend money (kids, viagra, alimony, etc)

Good point Cafaro. I guess that's why I decided to go to Ottawa, a place they haven't played since 1965. The atmosphere there will be tons better than at a
the Skydome here. It's the end of their Summer Exibition and the show is outside. So at least those aspects will keep it fun, even if the show remains the same. They get pumped there because it's rare for anyone to play there. Same goes for Moncton, I'm sure that will be great as well. I am pretty sick of stadiums though, On Stage or not.
