Hyde Park 1969

After watching some of yesterday's concert, I put in a video of the Stone's 69 performance at Hyde Park. The guitar sound of the opening song just blew me away. Wow......I suppose that sound is lost forever. Even in the 81/81 tour, where the guitars dominated, the sound is different....it seems more muddy. The version of the Stones in Hyde Park had a very clear, distinctive bluesy guitar sound that was most impressive.

Having just returned from Live 8 at Hyde Park I now believe that the majority of folk at the Stones in 69 wouldn't have been able to see a F*****g thing! I'd love to hear from anyone who was there to get the lowdown!

I think the sound in the 60's and 70's concerts was very exciting, raw and natural. No stadium band will ever play like that again! I thought the theatre shows on the last tour came as close as ever to recreating that feel.

I think I've bust a button on my trousers....
