Totally agree.

Best blues guitarist to emerge in the last 10 years. Amazed that he didn't get a mention until page 2 of this post. Awesome !

why no scotty moore?

The question was about more recent/younger ('last decades') players. Probably to avoid a list of the usual suspects (Keef, Hendrix, Clapton, etc).

Oh sorry my bad. on the other hand there are not many new greats to replace the old ones. the guitar hero solo's are kind of gone.
I'm sure there are lots out there but not that you would know it, not mainstream. i mean Johnny Marr, come on, he is good but it don't thrill me. the thrill has gone !!
THE EDGE. i mean really. the guys a one trick pony..

My faves of all-time Peter Green and Danny Kirwan. The finest british guitar partnership ever bar none.
Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch.
Mick Green, Joe Moretti, Alan Caddy.

In more recent years (the 80s !?!?) Robyn Hitchcock and Kimberley Rew's playing for The Soft Boys was excellent.
Kevin Shields
Kelley Deal.
Johnny Marr. wish there was a Smiths equivalent of the beach boys stack of tracks album so we could marvel at the power of Marr and not listen to that 4-note whinger Morrissey..
