ALways thought it odd that Mick intorduced him on the '78 tour as "Mac from the Small Faces," and not as "Ian McLagan." Just an odd thought.

Man, this one really bums me out.

what a week! i'm so sorry to hear this news, who is going to step in to these giant boots these legends of music have been wearing? it's pretty scary, the stones and their family is like my family and so many others on this site who have followed them through the years.

Dear me this is not a good time to be a music fan, first we learn of the death of Bobby Keys and now Mac has gone too.
Rest in peace Mac those keys were a joy to have heard over the years.

Another sad loss in the music world. Unfortunately it's going to keep going on as all of these great musicians get into their 60s and older.

I still had hopes that the Faces reunion with Rod would happen eventually, but it wasn't to be. I feel fortunate though that I did get to see Ronnie and Mac play a few songs with Rod at the Hollywood Bowl in 2004.

I liked his piano playing and wish he had played more with the band. I was watching this the other day. This is a sound I'd like to hear the Stones play, some roadhouse boogie. Mac's got a couple nice spots in here:

DANG it.....

What a wonderful talent! Saw Mac with the Faces in 1973 (Ronnie Lane was still with them), and with the Stones in 1978.

He was here in Atlanta not long ago, and it was one of those "man, I really need to go to that show" kind of things. I didn't make it, and I really regret that now.

RIP, Mac, and thanks for all the great music.

Think I'm going to go listen to "Tin Soldier"........ one of the long lost classics from the 60s if there ever was one.

Things come in threes.......Jack Bruce - Bobby Keys - now Ian.

I never saw Mac play with the Stones, but saw him dozens of times with the Faces, and he was one of the main reasons their shows were such a guaranteed great time. He was as full of the joy of life as Bobby, and will be missed as much.
