Mick Hucknall said it right:

"Ian McLagan will not be resting in peace. He'll be rocking whichever house he chose to be in. Bless his soul."

Oh my God! This is just beyond belief. He was supposed to be here in Ann Arbor next Tuesday opening for Nick Lowe. Feeling very pissed at Rod at the moment. Mac wanted that Faces reunion (I mean a real Faces reunion) more than anything, and Rod kept putting it off like they were all gonna live to be 150 or something. Now it's too late. It's gonna be the same with those crazy Kinks brothers. One day, it's just gonna be too damn late.

Yes Tatters, my sentiment exactly regarding Stewart. He put those guys off for years for his own selfish purposes and quashed what would have been a fun reunion for the band and their fans. In effect Rod ruined the Faces with his overblown ego causing Laney to quit in disgust, and then he refused to let them get back
together because of his solo career. Mac said countless times that a Faces reunion tour was his dream.

With Mac's tragic passing I feel like I have lost a good friend. Very upsetting.

As recommended by others by all means buy/find a copy of All The Rage. Book written by Mac is one of the best.

I saw Mac in Chicago at the end of October. He said they were going to do a Faces reunion after Ronnie finished up with the Stones and that Rod Stewart was finally onboard. So sad that this will not happen now.

Life's way too short and unpredictable. Hug your family real good tonight.

Or someone else.
I had a very big financial problem today with one of the companies I work for. A five figures problem: they are not able to pay us in time meaning I can't pay the people I hire unless I do a bank job or something this weekend...
After a lot of pressure from yours truly the woman explained me the why and how in a long email.
I had to think about your post suddenly...so I called her and said it doesn't solve the problem financially but I accepted the story and appreciated her effort a lot and talking to her was actually very nice. I said I was looking forward to finish the app and to shake hands with a drink or two.
She felt the same and well...I guess that made us feel good again.
It was good thinking about Mac's cheerful attitude and your nice words and being able to solve half of the problem...

thumbs up

wow...thanks for sharing that Dreamer, we are truly all connected it seems. I do hope this situation works out for you...it's good you are approaching from a different perspective and are able to get past the immediate issue.

Your words inspire me to try and do something nice today. Not sure what it will be, but that will be the fun in trying to figure it out!

Thanks again for your post.

What a terrible week ....somewhere out there in the ether, there is a superband playing music which would blow a mere mortal's mind...Hendrix, Jones, Joplin, Morrison, Danko, Manuel, Moon, Entwhistle, Helm, Keys, Mac ...and many more.

I'm afraid we are getting to that point in history where these demi gods of the 60's and 70's move on. Doesn't make it any easier to take and as a 50 something myself it feels like part of my life has gone.

He said the same thing to me five years ago. That's what I mean about Rod. He just kept stringing everybody along. Who knows, we still might not have heard the last of his bull shit. Next thing you know, he's gonna claim to want to tour with Ronnie and Kenney in honor of Mac's memory.

I agree. For some reason BV appears to be taking the lead from the Stones. The Stones haven't made an official statement about Ian's passing only choosing to "share" other people's messages on their Facebook page. Very strange. I get that Ian wasn't a current member of the touring group like Bobby was but he was very much part of the Stones story.

It's probably just too much all at once, and no doubt they must be very busy at the moment tending to Bobby's family etc.

The same thought occurred to me. I REALLY hope he doesn't do that. He should have bloody well committed to that much talked about Faces reunion and actually DONE it, instead of jerking everyone around and merely talking about it but never doing it. End result ? Too late, and now it'll never happen. Thanks Rod, you played that well didn't you .... you blithering idiot !!

Met Ian years ago during and after rehearsals with Bobby for Carl Carlton's band.
A very friendly and funny person making jokes about the wrong writing of his name in the 82 tour programme he was signing.

I guess, if Stones share their respect and sorrow to Mac and Key's families, it is more relevant than doing it on Facebook to please us.
Facebook is second place, not the families / relatives. The families / relatives are the most important things.

Two more band and crew members, over the past 40-50 years who have passed on.

If I'm not mistaken the last time I saw Ian McLagan was 2004 in Münster, Germany when he was a member of Carl Carlton's Songdogs together with Bobby Keys.

This one is from 2005 (without Bobby):

This news really tears me up.Bobby and Mac within days of each other.
Over the years, I've looked at Mac's site, cracking up uncontrollably, and feeling that he's so talented and cool, and funny as hell.It was like reading about an old friend. I have his excellent book "All the rage", and always figured one of these days I'd like him to autograph it, and my Faces box set as well. My best wishes to his family and friends. Rest in peace and thanks for the music and good times.

Rest in Peace Ian, Heaven just picked up one HELL of a keyboard man.
