OT: A Gift from the great Charlie McCoy

Last month I was talking with a friend about the fact that I play the blues harp. He told me that one of his relatives plays in a group with the legendary Charlie McCoy, one of the great harmonica players, and an all around musician who has played with Elvis, Dylan, Johnny Cash, and many of the legendary Nashville artists. He played a number of instruments on Dylan's Blonde on Blonde, and is in the Country Music Hall of Fame (very old-school) as well.I became aware of his harmonica skills in the early '70's and have admired him since then. I read that he played bass on Dylan's Blonde on Blonde album.

Anyway, my friend contacted his relative in Nashville and today brought me a gift. Charlie refurbishes his harmonicas and gives them away. So, he sent me one of his Hohner Special 20 harmonicas, along with a personal handwritten note, encouraging me to "keep on harpin". It is a sweet harp, but even sweeter coming from a man whose skills I have admired for decades. God bless the man.
