It was great! Unfortunately I missed the first 20 minutes, but the rest was realy great to watch, although I didn't realy see something new.

So the question is: what did I miss? Had the beginning new live footage from the Waldbuhne?

Lots of mistakes,
lots of gossip,
lots of jumping around through the decades,
lots of glueing together...but anyway...
4 hours about our band on TV!

Liked it - I thought before, there would be a hundred of people talking about the Stones... so no, it was a nice surprise!

Just think of putting four hours worth of Stones YouTube clips together, fine & fast editing mind you, to tell the Stones history throughout the decades... it needs narration to hold the different aspects together i.e. personal relations, family, drugs, tours, studio recordings, technical stuff, highlights, lowdowns ....etc.pp.
it happens to be a german tv production, with mainly german celebs giving their 2cents - gasp, yes, it's in german.
if this ever gets synchronised into the english language, kudos to those IF they get it right.
it was well made, fast and never got boring - well, it's the Stones anyway. heh.
it seemed jumpy occasionally but they did follow a parallel red line and it made sense.

ymmd

Is there a possibility to look back on the internet. The Netherlands has www.uitzendinggemist.nl. Is there something like that in Germany?

If you are asking for professional material, the answer is NO. There were only a couple of interviews with German celebrities who attended the show combined with some YouTube audience videos. To avoid their rather poor sound quality being revealed on TV, the corresponding sound was taken from the studio version of Start Me Up. This was what had been announced as "exclusive material" eye rolling smiley

lots of Jagger women
lots of needless inserted parts of interviews
lots of commercial breaks (no! 4 hours TV-docu-event - maybe 3 hours docu)
several old interviews
several repetitions inside the docu
next to nothing Wyman, Taylor, Wood
...

shallow & needless (imo)

Lots of misinformations. Especially from the bearded former MTV boss.

Edited to ad:
Yes, it's true what was said some posts above. Westernhagen
heavily dissed the Stones in former years. It was a very negative surprise to me
to see that guy in this docu.

It was more like a Mick, Keith and a little bit of Charlie documentary. The first time they showed something about Bill was when he was talking about the Nellcote days. Seemed like Bill wasn't present for the first decade.

But anyway. Stones on TV. They can't show anything better. Maybe a good football game. :-)

Just saw it again, now from beginning to the end. Great fun!
Why so negative about it?
I've never seen a four (or maybe 3 1/2 hours without the commercial breaks) docu about the Stones before. Realy great that a network do this kind of thing!

Exactly.
VOX is usually un-watchable. only stupid soaps or cook shows on all day and all of the night. then they come up with a rather "epic" Stones docu - that's quite something when attention span is about 45 min. at the max.

What about the misinformations?

they claimed that As Tears Go By was never performed live, before the making of Shine A Light.
I instantly thought: Not true, but then... maybe I'm wrong? what's the consensus?

what else did you guys find?

I watched the full doc last night and it was worth it, a long ride through Stones historic times of more than 50 years.
