Bloomfield is pretty much the one major 60s blues guitarist who's passed me by. I don't know how this happened - obviously, I've heard what he did on Highway 61, and I've given the first Butterfield Band record a couple of spins, but otherwise I really haven't heard anything he did during his career. But he was obviously a great player and a big influence on a lot of my guitar heroes past and present, from Jimmy Page to JD Simo.
Thanks for all these recommendations, guys. I've been listening to one of his compilations this morning (From His Head To His Heart To His Hands, the one Al Kooper worked on). Brilliant stuff, love it.
