It's awesome that Bob does this kind of releases but it's sad to see all The Band stuff is missing. This was an essential part of the show and I love them both equally.

This better belongs to Dylan thread, but it exactly has to do with copyright laws: them making sure the material do not enter public domain in certain markets that do have the 50 years rule for that (especially EU and UK). And yeah, we will most likely see the same treatment for the next tours as well.
Dylan people seem to mind a lot in keeping the copyright in their hands, but, for example, The Stones people don't seem to give a shit..

Can someone explain to me this concept? Like the 1966 tour, there was a major CD dump i.e. all the soundboard shows from 1974 tour. My question is why? Why now? something to do with copyright laws. How does their copywrite laws effect further releases e.g. does the 1976 and 1978 tours get the same treatment once they reach the 50 year point? Thanks in advance for the information and making me more knowledgeable.

But why on earth didn't the Rolling Stones release a box set of soundboard recordings from the 1973 Tour of Europe last year? Obviously many shows were recorded by the Mobile. And as the Dylan set shows, obviously the release of 50 year old recordings would not hurt any ticket sales either.

I would hypothesise that they look at the expected marginal return on investment of those recordings. How much money will they make now and in the future on those recordings?
The business decision maybe is that it just isn't worth the effort...and maybe flooding the zone with more recordings siphons money away from Hot Rocks re-entering the top 200 for the zillionth time?

it's not so much/not only about making money but rather preventing others making on the artists' expense
