Not news but probably worth mentioning it again: RollingThunder Revue ,Forth Collins, 1976. Nice camera work, good quality video and fantastic band. For me highlights: duo of Joan Baez (deportees...), the keefian "Shelter from the Storm"(great @#$%& guitar Bob!). The band is tight due to a bass/drums spot on and punchy. Great show.

Funny that remark about the possible colloboration with people like Keith, Ronnie or Clapton... Nothing really coming out of it... I guess that's also something to do with Dylan not liking making songs out of jamming and changing ideas, but by writing them alone (generally starting from the lyrics), and then having suitable people to record them (and do that part of the process quickly and efficiently). Different methods...

the santana version of "the groom's still waiting at the altar" has in progress lyrics. finally found them.

The Groom's Still Waiting At The Altar

Transcript of the performance by Bob Dylan, recorded 15 November 1980 live at the Fox Warfield Theater, San Francisco, California, U.S.A.
Lyric and music written by Bob Dylan

Prayed in the ghetto
with my face in the cement,
heard the last moan of a boxer,
I seen the massacre of the innocent,
felt around for the light switch,
became nauseated.
Just me, an overweight dancer,
between walls that had deteriorated.

Oh, set my affection on things above,
let nothing stand in the way of that love,
not even the Rock of Gibraltar.
If you see her on Fanning Street,
tell her that I still think she's neat
and that the groom's still waiting at the altar.

We... h't'm'n 'n' highwaymen,
pushin' women into robbery,
mistake your shyness for aloofness,
your silence for snobbery.
Never did get the message,
didn't even know one was sent to me
for the madness of becomin'
what one was never meant to be.

Well, set my affection on things above,
let nothing stand in the way of that love,
not even the Rock of Gibraltar.
If you see her on Fanning Street,
well, tell her that I still think she's neat
and that the groom's still waiting at the altar.

Well, what can I say about Claudette
that wouldn't come on back to haunt me.
I finally had to give her up
'bout the time she began to want me.
The Lord God has mercy
on them slandered and humiliated.
I'd a-done anything for that woman
if she'd only made me feel obligated.

Well, set my affection on things above,
let nothing stand in the way of that love,
not even the Rock of Gibraltar.
Well, if you see her on Fanning Street,
tell her that I still think she's neat
and that the groom's still waiting at the altar.

Locked into a time zone,
with a high-degree temperature,
wise men count no money,
fools standin' around like furniture.
There's a wall between you
and what you want and you got to leap it.
Tonight you got the power to take it,
tomorrow you won't even need the power to keep it.

Well, set my affection on things above,
let nothing stand in the way of that love,
not even the Rock of Gibraltar.
If you see her on Fanning Street,
tell her that I still think she's neat
and that the groom's still waiting at the altar.

Wait on a minute,
I found the solution,
too rich for my blood
and I needed a transfusion.
Don't know what I can say 'bout Claudette?
She's in the mountains or the prairies,
she could be respectably married
or running a whorehouse in Buenos Aires.

Well, set my affection on things above,
let nothing stand in the way of that love,
not even the Rock of Gibraltar.
If you see her on Fanning Street,
tell her that I still think she's neat
and that the groom's still waiting at the altar.

better than the copyrighted version, but maybe not.

Interesting question and response: Who is your best friend?
That got Dylan stumped, for once.
Maybe its his Manager or Accountant!

Mick...who is your best friend?...'uuh, it used to be Keith, but....'

Despite all the hissy-fits and all I'd say Mick & Keith are still down to the wire best friends and mercy on anybody who ever steps between them while they're verbally punchin' ...

Have to disagree on that one.
I doubt that Mick and Keith have visited their respective homes the last 20 years or so. Or attend their family dos...or have the occasional socials together.
Its just like they are work colleagues now, that's all.
The rest is for the movies.

When it comes to the kind of friendship Mick and Keith have, it's better to leave family out of it...

I also saw him yesterday in Brno and was satisfied, just like everytime I saw him in the past 13 years. The best show I saw was in Dresden in 2012, when he was somehow in a great mood and actually smiled a lot and also played guitar. Yesterday he didn't say a single word to the audience and didn't even play harmonica, but the show was great, he sang really well, the band was thight as hell (as always) and the song selection was also very nice.

Longevity of his career equals the Stones but he has a very different approach to concerts. No big stage production or costume changes or theatrics. To Bob, its just a day at the office, You show up, you do your job, and that's it. On to the next show. In Ian MacLagan's book he says when he toured with Bob it was all work and no play. He's a very serious person. You gotta respect that, he does it for the music and mot to impress everyone with gimmicks.

I think Bob did the white-face early in his career, during Rolling Thunder Review concerts, and that was the sole concession to theatrics in his career.

Other than that, he is strictly no-frills.

yes; and sometimes he wears suits that flash a bit; stripes down the sides, like tux; a lot of Mick's costumes have similar designs; as do a lot of Formal design wear.....i think it's not so much style per se, tho he's cool natural in his way like Charlie, only not so particuarly a pro haberdasher fan per se with more shoes than Imelda Marcus....yes Bob has graced us some slightly flashy stage duds; i think trying to let the audience
that is not close be able to single him out as he is what they came to see.
He is a 'song and dance man,' offering 'entertainment," he's told us, so
I always appreciate seeing him; when I've seen him live the first time.
it was jeans and a shirt like mostly everyone else in the place...
...it could have been his sound-check street clothes, and might have been.
he was, btw, Triumphant and casually Amazing; it was a total Blessing.
He was brilliant and present; and wonderful.

What's up with Howard Stern telling Bob Dylan to "eat shit" as part of his induction speech for Bon Jovi?

Tongue-in-cheek? Or is Howard really that stupid?

Its a joke. Howard is a Dylan fan. Or maybe he isn't, but he gets his importance. He just knows its funny to say something like that when talking about Bon Jovi (even though he is actually a Bon Jovi fan). Its a joke though.

haha that's how Howard makes more money than almost everybody else in show biz lol; it's like we used to talk in the garage as teenagers and earliest 20's.
We'd just rip anything just to rip more outrageously than the last snickering fool in our bunch. He appeals to that special 'stupid' in all of us I guess.
I mean he's "Fartman" good golly miss molly he's not exactly hiding it with bare ass cheeks, a cape, and a mighty roar, so to speak, in his wake.
