What is the difference between the original and the 4 reels version. I've seen the original but don't own it and am going to buy a copy from somewhere. Should I try and source a 4 reels version or am I as well to settle for the original.
What do you mean with "original"? There is no "original" (official release) out so far. The 4Reel version is excellent. Some people say the Old Bastard (or whatever other) version is better but the difference is really neglectible. You can't go wrong with the 4Reel version.

As midnrambler said, there's no original release. The non-4Reel releases are bootleg releases just as the 4Reels one.
(But, on the other hand, if I recall correctly, there was an "official" australian releases, or am I wrong???)
tiny voice: it's not 4Reels, it's 4Reel. it's a play on words: "for real". and it's a great edition. i've heard the NTSC version is even better than the PAL version; i've never had a chance to compare them, though.
I have the Pal version of 4Reel Prod and it's quite good.. the only trouble with this version is that it does not play at the right tone. I have made a version which is tone corrected.

I think you are right. I've got a copy of the following (on VHS):
Ladies & Gentlemen: Video Classics (64 Arthur St. North Sydney, 2060, Australia) tel: (02) 92 6400, 92 6388. It states that it's from the movie cassette library.
Executive producer: Marshall Chess Producers: Rollin Binzer / Bob Freeze / Steve Gebhardt Directed By: Rollin Binzer Sound: Bob Freeze Editor: Laura Lesser Recording: Andy Johns Tour Managment: Chip Monck
93 Minutes colour rated NRC
(it does say however that it's a sample packaging, so it most likely never made it to the stores official)

I have the 4 reels version which is good, but I feel the best version of this movie available is the Widescreen. Released earlier this year it is listed on the DVD as Touring History vol 6. Sound is simply fantastic and picture is the best of any copy I have seen save the original that played in theaters with the traveling quad sound system. When I haerd about this version I was skeptical, but all doubt was erased when I ran this through my stereo at high volume. Stunning quality, and a must have for fans. I think only an official band release could get any better. There are some minor synching problems with a few songs, but I think it is inherent to the print anyway.
Yes, the version filstan talks about is in fantastic quality. All region free, NTSC color and from Bad Wizard 2005 (Skorpio is printed on the film-strip on the front-cover.
My 4 Reel dvdr is great though the colour is slightly washed out but this may be down to the dub from the originaldvd. What I want to know is where did they get hold of the bonus Midnight Rambler footage and do they have access to all the other outtakes?
