Favorite pop guitar solos

By 'pop', I don't mean Beck, Clapton, or some so-called guitar wizard.
I mean stuff like the second, nearly 3 minute guitar break in My Sharona, or the solo in Eddie Money's Two Tickets to Paradise.

One of my alltime favorites:

Howard Leese on Heart's Magic Man and Elliot Easton with The Cars on few of their first 2 albums' singles.

Those early Cars guitars were fantastic.

Since I was a kid listening to my sister's Best of... loved the guy who played on all those early Bread songs...
just a real nice touch..at 27 and 1:09...and the fadeout.

I love the guitars in Get Together - great pick!.
I have never been able to figure out what he's doing - it sounds like an open tuning, but then it doesn't. It gives the song a real graceful, mournful quality to it.

I hate to go on the straight and narrow but it truly is a fine guitar solo from an unexpected source:

Keith, Lindsey... Great choices, but not exactly what I had in mind. Those are great rock and roll guys.
Like the solo in Earth, Wind and Fire's That's the Way of the World.

Hey stupidguy2. Yes the My Sharona solo is one of the best of all times.

This is another. The guitarist is Jimmy Ryan. Solo at 2:01

yes I also like the solo guitar on Wuthering Heights, so much feeling..
I remember I was in love with Kate Bush when she sang Babooschka in 1980. Curiously, I don't remember Wuthering Heights that came out in 1978 maybe because this song is more difficult to sing.

slashs sweet child of mine solo is still absolutely outstanding.
phrasing, sense for melodies, attitude, tone. it's so lyrical and yes it's pop.

Everything you posted is spot on. Good Call. I only wish I didn't hate this song so much as the (lead) guitar is some of the best out there. Oh well, my loss.

Peace,
Mr DJA

Killer Queen has a killer solo (starts at 1:25)

I Want A New Drug - Huey Lewis & The News

A good solo made better when Chris Hayes inserts a reference to Jimi Hendrix at the end.

Actually, Chris Hayes had some other good lines in his days with the News. Also Johnny Cola on Sax added a bunch of his own as well.

Peace,
Mr DJA

I still see Stupidguy2's point, this is not so much about songs that you would also hear on Classic Rock stations like songs by Queen and so on. Yes, they made a bit of a pop crossover hit in those songs.

"Bad to me" by Billy J. Kramer has some nice guitar, I'm not really wired for sound.

The Carly Simon is probably on point.

The Outro to Rosanna by Toto. It has some really cool bluesy piano and guitar.
