A great loss to Aussie music. Unique voice, unique band (The Angels). And a unique stage presence.

RIP Doc.

A front man par excellence. In his heyday one of the world's best. Saw The Angels every few weeks in their breakout days 1978-1980 at Sydney venues like The Lifesaver and the Stagedoor Tavern. Any Oz fans here recall the Narara festival '82? RIP Doc.

The Angels tried three times in the late 1970s and early 1980s to make a hit out of the song Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. It wasn't until the song was played live that it attracted, in the mid-1980s an unexpected chant response of "No Way, Get @#$%&, @#$%& Off" from the audience to the question posed in the title of the track, that the song became an iconic part of Australian culture, so much so that the song cannot be played anywhere at any time in Australia without the chant being sung by whatever crowds are present

I always thought Doc would've been an interesting replacement for Bon Scott. The timing was off though & don't know if it would've been a good fit lyrically. I sure would've listened though!

Very sad news. Another great band we'll never get the chance to see again.

Aaaargh, possibly my greatest most rock n roll moment occured with The Angels and The Exponents at the Mt Maunganui Sound Shell in 1990/91 new years holiday. On the back of 'Beyond Salvation', what a performer, wordsmith and rock 'n' roller.

"Rage" on Saturday morning had a bit of a Doc tribute-great early clip of them doing "See Your Face" with Doc playing bass. Man they were just kids then. I had forgotten this was their first release. It would be very high on my "best first single" list

I'm glad folks on this site have been posting about Doc & the Angels. I put up a post on another Stones site & didn't get a peep. As Keith once said "All music is holy.". Thanks for the head's up on the 40th anniversary package. I'll look for it!smoking smiley

My son named their first band after one of the Angels albums, he was stoked when he met Doc and the angels. He met the band on other occasions and to this day he is still impressed and proud that he met Doc, RIP mate.
