Pretty good - wherezit from - who's on piano. Still think Time Waits For No One is his finest. Anybody's really -- 'cept maybe Duane Allman doing Statesborough Blues (Ludlow Garage '70) or on Boz Scaggs' Loan Me A Dime. Sorry to go off topic. Think it's time to compile a Taylor-made Anthology. Starting here, now.

Well, if the problem in Woodie solo thread was to find enough - or any - memorable solos, that surely is not the problem here... grinning smiley

Anyway, probably my favourite is the lead which goes through "Winter", even though it technically is not a solo an sich. But for that, the shit he does with Carla Olson is such a beauty, and I wish it never would end, no matter how long it goes. Usually I'm not into long guitar solos, but who am I resist that? The guy is expressing such emotions via his instrument I never heard any other guitarist doing. Simply capturing.

Better they get posted here than in the Ron Wood thread no?

I think this - starting at 4.09 - is Taylor's best solo with the Stones, and the best guitar solo I've ever heard from anyone. It's flawless. Taylor at his best takes you on a musical and emotional journey like no-one else.

This song has been cited here by our good DP as an example of why he prefers the 1975-76 Stones to the '73 version. It's because of Keith's "more limited role" and because Keith "only strums two chords". Well, to my ears it's the most beautiful goddamn 2-chord strumming in the history of music.

The Guns'n'Roses-tribute - good one grinning smiley

This solo is near perfection. Brings back good memories. Too bad he busts a string toward the ending.

the Olson Sway version is MT's revenge on the Stones and stands as his singular highlight. No further discussion, please.

I think that depends on the definition of "one." That varies from culture to culture.

He sounds like an interesting fellow. But, why only the one "d"? Is that another one of those cultural variations?

Because of BV. You know, the name we're not allowed to say here...

He took a couple of prisoners on the 1974 tour; but since it was so poorly attended, it has been largely ignored. Your point, however, is generally...well, on point.
