PT - Sociopath
but doesn't live on message boards
That is just stupidity. Alan Rogan must have given Pete the wrong tuning or capo position. This tech is one of the most respected people in the music industry, acting like that is an embarrassment to a man that has given his life's work to players like PT and the guitar world in general. Very few people have kind words about PT. Roger he's ok and John was a sweet person. They're all grossly extravagant

My thoughts too. What a spoiled pampered brat Pete has become. Looks like the guitar was cutting out to me (same tuning and capo position on the new one)...he easily could have signaled for a new axe without all the drama, plenty of time to stretch the intro a few seconds. Looking at how his tech almost cowers while handing him another guitar makes me think Pete can be a nasty piece of work when he's angry. For someone who recently claimed his anger issues are behind him I'd say he still has some work to do.
If he wants to be an ass off the stage it's his business but when I'm paying to see a performance that kind of crap is unwelcome. Reminds me of Axl Rose.....

I went to the charity show Thursday night. Here's the Rolling Stone review:
Simon led off. Voice kind of reminded me of Phil Collins. The two songs he did by himself were ok. He's a fine guitarist. (It must be tough being incredibly talented, and relying on your more talented and famous brother for work.)
His duets with Vedder were beautiful.
The show had a very nice, laid back vibe. Vedder was wonderful. His voice is incredibly strong and expressive, and his charisma really was powerful in the smaller, theater setting. Blue, Red, and Grey was special.
Joan Jett took the lead on Can't Explain and Summertime Blues, and they were perfect for her.
All respect, peace, and love to the late Clarence and the E Street Band, but Joe Walsh nailed the low parts on Summertime Blues, and nobody does this song better than (what's left of) The Who.
Pete's voice was gruff, but he seemed to be enjoying himself. He did a bit bringing out a turntable and a vinyl recording of I'm One he'd recently cut in Nashville, which he was giving away for the charity.
Pete remains an amazing guitarist. Walsh's varying style was fun, when added to the songs. Rick Nielsen didn't add that much (at least it seemed to me).
It was a short show -- 1:45. But I was glad I went to that instead of the Who show next store at the much larger Rosemont Horizon the night before. This was a fun change of pace, with some really great moments.
They did the bit with My Generation starting as a slowish shuffle, then kicked it into high gear, with full power. Vedder was great, of course, singing it.
My one reservation these days is about the bass being turned down so low, except in My Generation. I read an interview a while ago with Pete, saying that he thought Ox played too loud, and that he likes it being a guitar band now. The excitement of The Who was always the four stars competing against each other for attention, combined with each of the musicians taking turns (or not) playing lead. With the untimely deaths of Keith and John, order has long since been imposed. I understand that was necessary for Pete to go on. And they're still very powerful. But I do notice the absence of the competition (and the second lead from the bass).

Awesome show last nite, great set list, packed house. Other than Pete saying something stupid about Moonie, a perfect nite, specially at $50.
