Im getting a prototype plaque really before its carved into black Granite with the Stones logo as well what would be the correct order to put the 7 Rolling Stones in and would it be best to have the members in order from the year they started or as they are today for example have Ronnie's name before Brian Jones and Mick Taylor?

I vote for putting them in order of the time they joined the group.

1 Ian Stewart
2 Brian Jones
3= Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
5 Bill Wyman
6 Charlie Watts
7 Mick Taylor
8 Ron Wood

Stu was the one who booked the room for the first "auditions". Stu was ALWAYS a member of the (legally constituted) band.

Never forget that!

Brian placed the ad
Ian booked the room
Mick came to sing
and said he wasn't doin' it if Keith wasn't doin' it
Bill provided the bass and the amp
They finally persuaded Charlie to join
When they lost Brian, they gained Mick T
And when he left them, Ronnie became Keith's partner

His Majesty..yea its just a rough layout I'll put all the instruments on it.Wikipedia has Mick for Vocals,Harmonia,Guitar,Keyboards,Bass Guitar,Drums.should I put Drums on it ya reckon some people might question me on it because they've never seen Mick on Drums before.

That's going to be a big plaque. eye popping smiley

Don't forget Chuck. It would be a crime to do so.

A quick squiggle of the layout not to sure of Ian Stewarts years. It'll be a something like 530mmx370mmx30mm thick black Granite with silver lettering so it'll be a cool looking bit of work yea smoking smiley
The Stones years won't be fully completed until they've officially announced they've finished.

a) Stu died on 12th December 1985. :-(

b) As pointed out, his name ends with a T not a D

c) I hope the poster was joking, but Chuck is not a member of The Rolling Stones. He, along with (eg) Bernard Fowler play with them, but is not a member.

For Ian Stewart, 1962-1963 as an official full band member. His tenure was cut short once Andrew Loog Oldham became their manager during the first half of 1963.

Stones of 1963 with....

....and without Ian Stewart.

I would definitely lead off with Mick and Keith, followed by Charlie. At that point it would be arbitrary, but I'd go, Ronnie, Bill, Brian, Mick T.

(I'd leave Stu off because he is not as handsome as the rest. He won't mind.)

Would you let your daughter me managed by an Andrew Loog?

Yep on C. They're part of the backing band The Rolling Rubble.

I'll only complete the dates if an official announcement is made and I didn't put the year Ian left because im not to sure on that one and I want to be right this is only the prototype larger silver lettering and logo will be carved into 30mm of Black Granite.Theres another photo I'll post tonight.

If I were doing it I would put Mick and Keith on the top of each column since they are by far, the most important members. Below them would be Brian and Ian, then Charlie and Bill, and at the bottom Mick T. and Ron. I think this order makes the most sense as it lists them in roughly the order they joined the group. Like this:

MICK JAGGER------- KEITH RICHARDS
BRIAN JONES------- IAN STEWART
CHARLIE WATTS------ BILL WYMAN
MICK TAYLOR------- RONNIE WOOD

Also, I personally don't think it's necessary to list each and every instrument someone has touched over the years...just the main ones for which they are known (everybody played some percussion!) For example, Mick: vocals, harmonica, guitar, piano; Keith - electric and acoustic guitar (or simply, guitars), vocals, bass guitar; Bill Wyman - bass guitar, Ian Stewart - piano; Charlie Watts - drums, percussion; (I know Brian is the hardest. Where you end?) Anyway, you get the idea. That's just my opinion...but I think fewer words will make it look less cluttered. And less letters also means less money it will cost you in engraving.

Never mind the order - that plaque looks like a gravestone. All it needs is RIP at the bottom. I wouldn't enjoy it. But whatever pleases you...

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it looked like a gravestone.

I like this idea, taking the aesthetical nature of the plague, even though I would change the places of Jones-Stewart and Watts-Wyman duos. Why? Because I think Charlie Watts should be next to Mick and Keith. Those three are the core and essence of the band.

Jagger-Richards
Watts-Wyman
Jones-Stewart
Taylor-Wood

The good thing in it is that the pairs match very well - the glimmer twins, the straightest rhythm section in the world, the original founders of the band, and then the classical guitarist vs-issue...

The other change to consider could be put Wood to 'top four' to emphasize the the band as it has been now known for over 20 years, and still in the process of making history (and each guy would have "-" put in their years in being in the band).

Jagger-Richards
Watts- Wood
Jones-Wyman
Taylor-Stewart

Unfortunately it doesn't looks so good from the bottom half, and asks some sort of explanation.

True that placing Ian Stewart is a bit tricky - he has the 'moral' reason being there, but the fact is that he was a real member only 1962-63, and never known to big audience. During their days of fame, his status aren't much different from those of Chuck Leavell, Bobby Keys, Darryl Jones, Nicky Hopkins, etc. except that those cats didn't do roadie jobs, weren't there making tea for Mick and Keith, etc...

No Dick Taylor?
He was there at the first gig.

No place for Chuck Leavell or Blondie Chaplin? It's a disgrace.
