Before the concert at the Olympiastadion in 2006, fans gathered at Westend Klause before the show, some ten minutes walk from the stadium.
It's right next to the Neu Westend tube station (one stop away from Olympiastadion). There are a few more restaurants, bars and shops in that area.
From the Olympiastadion to Waldbuhne I guess its no more than 5 minutes to walk, although some pub/bar/restaurant closer to the Pichelsberg station would be more convenient perhaps.

If you want to go and no regrets, don't take a camera.

Do you have any other info than what has been discussed here (based on the general Waldbuhne instructions)?

Wow, what a great looking venue!!. I wish that I could be there. I wonder why they made the stage so high. It really isn't necessary in an amphitheater.

I wonder what they will do with the stage.
Some bands, like Metallica, used a lower stage in front of the high one. Others, Muse, use the original high one with a (low) catwalk.

Imho, the stage height is not a problem, I actually liked it. It helps with the view from the standidng field, especially if you are not front row...
Waldbuhne is my favorite venue, sound & ambience-wise, can't wait to see Stones there smiling smiley

How about meeting simply in front of the venue at...I don't know...4 p.m.? Let's wait together and let's be together inside too. Well, divided into sectors :-) Since I haven't met nearly anyone from here yet, getting to know other IORR members would make the waiting quite pleasant, I guess.

Actually both are do-able and aren't far apart.
say 2:30 pm at Pichelsberger Krug when it mignt not be as busy, then move to the front of the venue and box offices at around 4p.m.
doors open 5p.m.

Some people might want to go earlier or later. Thats their call, of course.

Sounds ok to me, although do you think that bar looks a bit small?

It sure does look a wee bit small, but does it really matter?
they have facilities, food, drinks and restroom.
perhaps not have enough tables and seats but they'll have plenty of glasses
... and then there's the bridge, which probably makes up as the biggest bar counter in the vicinity. lol.

the weather folks have upped their forecast to freaking 33°C on Tuesday!
not quite Tel Aviv weather but near enough.

it's a 7 min. walk or 550 metres from Pichelsberger Krug to Waldbühne
as opposed to
32 min. or 2.7 kilometres walk from Westend Klause.
that's a long walk in that heat and lots of concrete.
oh yeah, Pichelsberg is surrounded by woods.
stay cool and hydrated.

Time? not sure yet but open for suggestions.

So looking forward to this, just hope I can see--I can't win whether the stage is too high or too low! Hyde Park was juuuuust right . .

Me and my friend got one Stehplatz Inneraum ticket on sale for face value - 260 EUR (226,40 EUR + 34,50 EUR we paid for shipping). We will be hanging around the venue from 3-4pm so the best way would be to pick it up personally at Waldbuhne.

Email me if you're interested - wickerman767@aim.com

http://www.waldbuehne-berlin.de/service_faqs.html

Are cameras and camcorders allowed?
Picture, video and sound recordings of performances are completely banned at the Waldbühne. This rule is policed and enforced by security. Any violations of this rule can result in your being ejected from the performance by security staff.

When does the Show start? Any Infos? It must be a little bit earlier in Berlin, because they must finish at 10pm, I think (same as in HP last year) ... Thanks in advance!

The thing is though, if I bring my point and shoot camera, I don't want it to get taken from me, never to be seen again. Obviously they can't prevent cell phones, but do they actually take your camera at the entrance? Or do they just tell you (wink wink) not to use it?

This also matters to me and other people who will be doing tourist stuff during the day and don't want to go back to the hotel just to drop off their camera if it's not necessary.

joshbg2k, sure the same question and problem have tons of people (including me). But there is no way to get a straight answer. It is a general policy of WB, so they can not tell otherwise, but you can imagine how strict it is from the tons of videos from WB all around the Youtube. Taking away a small camera would be plainly stupid, since most people will have cell phones with comparable cameras and those will not be taknen away obviously. I think you will not get any more specific answer.

They're not? what on earth could they be then?
I can only read the sign of the first hut. "Greg's Crêpes ...and more"
or are you objecting this as food per se?

the third one, with the red lampions, looks like they'd offer Asian style food.
...and, they're all closed in that pic. bummer.

now a true german cruelty is, to let everyone de-hydrate at venues when the temperatures get high.
sorry, nope, no drinks here. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

No worries, they'll sell ya water, beer, softdrinks, whatever.
but do expect to wait in long queues at a wee bit over-priced rate.
