I've always read/heard that Micks vocals on 'Silver' were accidently erased right before L.I.B was about to be pressed. There wasn't enough time to get Mick back in the studio, so Keith had to do the vocals.

If this is the story how & why do we have boots w/ Mick singing 'Silver'??

Fast forward to 'Life', and Keith writes that 'Silver' is his & he basically wrote it all, and he sang on it to spread the workload.

So..if Keith did take the vocs. to lighten Micks load, where did the origin of the erased vocal story come from?? And vice versa???

Anyone have any info here to help clear this up?

I think they did versions with both Mick and Keith doing the lead vocals.

Supposedly, they decided to keep Mick's, but couldn't find the take in time, and Mick was away filming Ned Kelly, so they used Keith's...

...or they simply decided (correctly, imo) that Keith´s was the better version!

Mick was back from the Ned Kelly filming in mid-September, so that would have nothing to do with it -
still time enough to finish the album, which they did in late October/early November.

I think MJ's magnanimous enough to have gone with Keith's version, which I agree is the better version.

Yes, Mick's vocals are available on many boots. Another story is that both of them kept putting "their" version on the final master and Keith waited till the last minute to replace it with his.
