I'm curious if any of you have any particularly interesting stories having to do with drugs and the Stones. For that matter, stories about the boys performing while under the influence of various substances OR your own personal tales of concerts you attended while trippin out.

Just curious.

Melbourne 17 February 1973 - afternoon show.

Two police officers busted some dude in the crowd for smoking a joint. One on each arm, they started to escort him out of the venue. Mick saw what was happening, stopped performing and told them to back off and let him stay and watch the show.

Crowd backed Mick yelling, booing and stomping. Police backed off stayed by his side and let him watch the remainder of show. But sadly he was lead away after the show.

I was living in NYC and had saved a bunch of $ for the Stones tix. When the date came around we all drove to a different city. They were auctioning off tickets. We won ALL of them,, as I knew we would becuase in those days the Stones never let me down. So we had all this money left over. We copped a lot of different powders outside the stadium at night. No flex either. As I said the Stones looked out for me in those days.
Next tour I drove to New Orleans with a car full of people. There was one girl with us who had a big purse with nothing in it but speed. Now anyone who knows New Orleans knows that you can put away a lot of booze in that city. And anyone who knows speed knows you can go forever without keeling over on crystal. I was up for 3 or 4 days drinking at the Ole Absynthe. Once I got to the show I saw stars and then began tipping moonshine with some girls from Mississippi. Man that is some WICKED SHIT. I got so drunk I actually was sober again. I remeber the whole gig totally clear.
Nowadays I'm like everyone else at the Stonesgigs: wide eyed and bushy tailed. I was an outdoor show for Lix and lit up a Marlboro. next thing I know this lady next to me has called an usher complaining about smoke. at a STONES show!! LOL

i went to the voodoo lounge concert in Brisbane

i took my joints in and sat up the back in the voodoo lounge area when the stones came on i lit up i offerd some to the people around me and they all refused.



a friend and i saw bonjovi live in new zealand just before it started we had a smoke the gear was very very good we both passed out and woke up as the concert was finishing

ChelseaDrugstore - Crazy that someone complain about cigarette smoke at a concert. I was at Giants Stadium in 94 and my friend's mother got great tickets for the show somehow because a friend of hers knew Jerry Hall. So my friend's mother was walking through the parking lot when some guy approached her and asked her if she wanted doses. Acid that is. She didn't know what he was saying and after when we told her she was shocked. I also had some friends buy some fake hash at the same show.

These days with some many different age groups at concerts and just families there in general you will often get looked at if you light up a joint. But you will also see some people smoking weed that you would not expect to see puffing away on the herb.

My favorite "cloudy memory" was Steel Wheels Raleigh, NC, 1989. 12 front row seats, 12 close friends, 3 ounces of herb, 1/2 ounce of excellent dust, 36 hits of X, enough beer and liquor to float a boat. Oddly enough, noone lost their shit. And we all remember the show! Back before I started paying attention to my physician. Come to think of it, I was much healthier then!!

With the now family atmosphere of a Stones show I miss the smoky, drunken, stoned aspect of a good old fashion rock show. I went to a music fest about two years ago and did not have any herb, I can honestly say it was the first time since about 1969 that I saw any kind of live music straight...it sucked.

My one haven is a Stones concert, I mean were else is it more aprepoe (spelling?). First, outside the Tacoma Dome the speakers declare you will be ejected for smoking...ya right I tell myself. Once inside it is painfully obvious that no one is smoking anything. I'm in the 14th row, Keiths side and right up until S. Crow starts nothing. I'm thinking I will wait for someone up front to tie their shoes (wink, wink) and get the ball rolling...nothing...by the end of her set I'm panicing. This can't be happening.

During the break I set off looking for that blind corner but the arena is carefully screen off so there are no hidden corners and there are all there guys you see in movies with flack jackets and Glauks...intimidating for a herbologist from the great white north. I am about to give up 5 minutes before Stones time when I see a handle from a wheel chair sticking out from behind a pillar behing a concession stand...I saunter over behind the stand and find a guy in a wheel chair having a cigarette...he had found the only 4 square feet in the building with a blind side. with nothing more than a nod I slid up against the arm of the chair to maximize that 4 foot area. I had taken only a small one so as not to get caught with much and found myself wanting more. With two minutes to curtain I raced back to my seat and coat for another, back up to the second level, the wheel chair is gone, it's all mine. Race back to my seat, I'm ready. Now just before the lights drop I start to get these stares from folks around me, I realize I am the only person smelling of smoke....sort of a 'how did that stoned guy get in hear' thing is going on around me...to hell with them I say to myself as I reach into my hidden coat pocket and pull out a glass mickey of Scotch....well that realy put me out on my oun....now the stoned guy is the only one with booze as well.

I'm just not sure what a Stones concert is suppoed to be about these days but I hope there is room for us old party farts. By the way I'm not an 'obnoxious' party animal.
