When Mick Sang Honky Tonk Women Just For Me - And More

Hello friends.

Some of you have enjoyed chapters from my forthcoming memoir of my 70s NY music daze of working with the likes of Dylan, Jagger, and Sinatra et al, called "The Schlepper and the Superstar."

I've done a rewrite of my Jagger chapter that I feel quite good about, so I invite you to check that one out. It's about doing the original mix of "Bedspring Symphony."

Other favorites include my story of the New York Blood on the Tracks sessions. I'm the only person alive who witnessed the whole thing.

Another one people seem to like is:

“The Saddest Thing of All: My Thirty Minutes With Sinatra,” [www.glennberger.net]

Just for fun, here's my latest chapter, “The Time I Didn’t Have Sex With Bette Midler.” There's a bit about Steely Dan in this one as well.

For even more chapters, featuring Phoebe Snow, Judy Collins, Paul Shaffer, Arif Mardin, Phil Ramone, and more, visit, [www.glennberger.net]

Hope you enjoy!

So he only overdubbed the one vocal then? What happened with Star Star? Did you ever mix it?

It would be great to listen to Honky tonkwomen with the original live vocals. Was it actually that bad on the original recording?

I compared both HTW-versions (audience and KBFH). The lead vocals are the same.
So they probably didn't use this overdub or just a tiny bit of it.

Glenn,

Great stories. I've noticed that more than once you refer to the difficulty of working with Paul Simon. Will that be a future chapter?

Yes, he only did this one overdub. I have no memory of what happened with Star Star.

I don't think it was that bad. He had to pretty much track the original, because we couldn't entirely eliminate it in the mix. I think you can hear the slight doubling in the choruses.

Yes! I'm saving those for the book, though.
