Well, here is a gem everyone here in Finland - and some older folks in Sweden - recognizes immediately...grinning smiley

Just a sweet Carolina, just a rocking little mama
Leave my baby in old Alabama
Rockin´ in the evening when the sun goes down
Playing guitar that´s a swinging old town
Rocking and a rolling just a little while
Ain´t got no rolling ain´t got no holding

Since the lyrics just can't get any better, let the rest of it go as well:

Get on, get on baby, get on
Get on, get on baby, get on
Let me be rock and rolling free
Well old Alabama, just a sweet Carolina
Rocking and rolling may leave town
Got to be a scoogie lay on my boogie
Let me hear you say you got my hole around
Got to be a scoogie, bim, bomb, bang
Ain´t got no rolling ain´t got no holding
Get on, get on baby, get on
Get on, get on baby, get on
Let it be, rock and roll with me
Go go baby dancing rock and roll
Twist and shout, you´ll be a rocking the bowl
Just a little baby she´s rolling around
Ain´t got no rocking or roling in town
Got to be a scoogie of the neighbourhood
Ain´t got no rolling, ain´t got no bowling
Get on...
Get on...
Let´s rock and roll, ain´t gonna move along

Here is the original recording from 1974 - man, that's toughest shit ever recorded, and haven't aged one bit:

A few from David Bowie:

I count the corpses on my left, I find I'm not so tidy
"Running Gun Blues"
I'm up on the eleventh floor And I'm watching the cruisers below "Queen Bitch"
I'm an alligator, I'm a mama-papa coming for you "Moonage Daydream"
Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth "Rock 'N' Roll Suicide"
He looked a lot like Che Guevara, drove a diesel van "Panic In Detroit"
As they pulled you out of the oxygen tent You asked for the latest party "Diamond Dogs"
In this age of grand illusion You walked into my life out of my dreams"Word On A Wing"
I, I will be king And you, you will be queen ""Heroes""
Let's dance put on your red shoes and dance the blues "Let's Dance"

Peace indeed.

It actually wasn't meant to be taken too seriously - file under designation 'laugh-think'.

I think I still need to do further work on my 'Sympathy for the Angel' lyrics - yes and to do further work on misapplication of 'posthumous' to a finished song lyric and not a its finished songwriter!

Oh, and for bad measure, .......

"Imagine all that treacle, covering your peas ...."

I don't know to start... I'm laughing too hard!

"Sympathy for the Angel" a great title and inspiration for my imagination. Although an exact opposite, mirror image of the original would be fun, my brain is running with the concept of a devil/demon writing in sympathy of the angel missing out on all of the fun stuff that a devil/demon gets to participate in.

Then...

Once I looked up the definition of "treacle", I couldn't stop my mind from viewing a parent standing over a little kid who is refusing to eat their peas. Who knows, maybe if my mom would have served treacle with my brussels sprouts & lima beans we might have had fewer arguments when I was growing up. I'm still convinced those things are poison!

Peace,
Mr DJA

"Please allow me to introduce myself..." ('Sympathy for the Devil,' of course).

I've always been intrigued by.

I heard that was lifted (adapted) from a book by Voltaire....(or somebody French...but I think Voltaire)....I've got no more details to give though, sorry.

Perhaps it is the driving acoustic guitar and bass, but I remember putting this record on and being immediately captivated:

If I ventured in the slipstream
Between the viaducts of your dream...

"She's a good girl, loves her mama
Loves Jesus and America too
She's a good girl, crazy 'bout Elvis
Loves horses and her boyfriend too"

"Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons,
packed up and ready to go
Heard of some gravesites, out by the highway,
a place where nobody knows
The sound of gunfire, off in the distance,
I'm getting used to it now
Lived in a brownstore, lived in the ghetto,
I've lived all over this town"

"I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes"

Isn't Diamond Dogs preceded by:

"This ain't Rock'n'Roll...this is...genocide!"

That's the end of Future Legend, the short into to the album.

You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht. (Carly Simon)

Well you thought I'd be waitin' up when you came home last night
You'd been out with all the boys and you ended up half tight
But liquor and love that just don't mix leave a bottle or me behind
And don't come home a drinkin' with lovin' on your mind. (Loretta Lynn)

Listen to the wind blow, watch the sun rise, run in the shadows,
damn your love, damn your lies.(Fleetwood Mac)

Why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near? (The Carpenters)

They tried to make me go to rehab, I said no-no-no. (Amy Winehouse)

Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don’t, sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I won’t. (India.Arie)

I've been a bad, bad girl. (Fiona Apple)
