UK/European Fans - The Band's 2nd Class Fans
Posted by: SonicDreamer ()

Well the boys and their insidious greed-driven organisers have done it again - USA fans are treated as priorities (no offense to USA fans, it ain't your fault!!!!).

1. No clarity about UK/European dates.

2. No guidance from Fan Club as to whether European fans need to purchase the
Platinum Membership NOW, to get the best chance of European Presale Tickets,
or wait and an International Membership will announced in due course.

3. UK/European fans need to wait a full year to see the band AGAIN.

4. Assuming European dates are announced shortly (ha ha ha) and Presale Tickets
go on sale imminently that means the Band and their Banks get the interest on
our ticket purchases a full year before we see the Band.

5. Seems USA tickets are always cheaper then Euopean ones, except the club shows
on the LICKS tour.

Well I donno how long time you have been following this band of ours but this is just the normal way how they do things. -81 they begun in US -89 same thing -94 same thing -97 same thing -02 same thing -05 same thing

Aaaah

Do I see a pattern of similarity here maybe.. Not really a surprice is it that they will again do Europe on the last leg of the tour when all seldom heard songs have long back been dropped from the set and we are back on remot control doing only warhorses

Ja, only since 1989 attending gigs but a listener since 17.

I was aware of the previous Tours start pattern BUT still felt like a good grumble regardless.

I guess the argument in favour of this pattern is that the boys will be "well-oiled" (hopefully not Ronnie in the alcoholic sense!!!!) by the time they hit Europe (they were fantstic on LICKS) BUT equally they could be jaded and playing unadventurous sets again as you said.

Europe concerts - except England maybe - are always cheaper, I think. Do you really want a SEAT - hot or not - for 4oo dollars? I prefer standing FOS tickets. And they will be much cheaper (I hope). And the presale-system is very good, I think, if it works like they said. I'm sure we can use our membership also on the european leg. But its all about money, of course.the prices are absurd.

Yeah, but you guys have one thing that we never have over here...really great, enthusiastic audiences!
It always seems here as if half the audience is there to get drunk and wander around outside. They're up for the first song then that's about it...off to the beer stand.
Plus everyone always starts streaming out before the encore to avoid the traffic!

the shows are OVER a year away. How the hell can you possibly clarify dates in stadiums so far in advance?

By the way, they didnt announce details of shows in OTHER markets either.

If you join, its pretty clear. If you dont find a show you want by the time the North American pre-sale period ends, you get a refund. You can also join WHEN the pre-sales for the shows you want are announced. You have the same chances of tickets as everyone else.

so? They havent played in the US for 2 1/2 years. Its less than 2 years since they played in Europe. Its the Americans' turn. Playing Europe so soon again is over saturation

no they wont. They wont announce the European shows until at least towards the end of the year as normal. They have to make sure stadiums are available when needed and that information wont be known so far in advance.

from personal experience, that is utter nonsense.

Give me a break! I have barely walked out of the press conference (actually airborne now), and the first I see is whining and complaining about where they play! I just can't believe it!

Read the reports. Cool down. They will play 3 months in Europe next summer. There are 6 million people in the world and they will come to you next year.

This was the 2005 announcement. There will be lots more info about 2006 later on. We don't open Christmas parcels all year, do we?

Right on Bjornulf.

Spare a thought for us Aussie fans who have had to wait up to 22 years between tours and when they do finally get here they only play about 10 gigs in the whole country.
You US and European fans have been spoilt for far too long.
Stop whinging - pay the ticket price - stop complaining about set lists and just enjoy the experience.

I'd be happy to see them play marry had a little lamb sitting on stools in some pub if that was all they were offering. Give them a break after 43 years.

This is 2005. If they don't come to your next door joint then you can go and see them nearby. Flights are cheaper than a few six-packs of beer these days. No excuse. Just make sure you have a valid passport. See you on tour.

flights to certain cities in Europe ARE literally cheaper than a six pack if you shop around long enough in advance on low cost airlines, actually!

Besides, as Bjornulf lives in Norway where beer is very expensive, what he's saying is probably true...lol

I paid 200 NOK to see Bo Diddley in London. For the flights. Ryanair. That is 30 dollars or 25 euro. A beer cost me 5 dollars in NY earlier today. 5 x 6 = 30. That is one six-pack. It isn't really rocket science. If you are still wasting travel money on major airliners then fine with me, but you will have less money for the tour.

BV - any advice you can give regarding airlines would be appreciated. I live in San Diego & do not know of cheap ways to fly around the US. If you could point me in the right direction, I am sure i could make more shows.

Cheers

Bjornulf,

I want some advice on some expensive (and cheap) Norwegian beer.
Can you or anyone else name me a couple of your favorite brands please?

Thanks

Please, don't loose perspective. We're talking about the Stones. We all agree they are the greatest, so pay the f**ing money and enjoy! The fanclubsystem they build for this year looks fair to me.

STILL NO AUSSIE DATE AND i DOUBT THEY WILL TOUR!! You say European fans are 2nd class, so what does that put us fans in Australia???

what i'm hoping for is more festival style seating on the European leg of the tour, it's just so much better than the all seating arrangement.

It was even like it in the UK on the last tour, I can't be arsed with all this, 'rank and file' stuff like they have in the states.

If people wanna go stand on the pitch and rock out, let 'em, if they wanna sit up the sides and watch the show, well let 'em do that also

LOL @ "Pay the @#$%& money". Easy to say if you already own a home...don't have CC debt, etc. I am 29 & looking to buy my first house, get married in the next year & have a damn tour to deal with. Sorry...real life still exists for some of us. That said, I'd still like to make 20-25 gigs...but it isn't as easy as "just pay the money & go" for some of us. I make under $50K/Yr & live in San Diego, CA (ie expensive city)...wish it was so easy for me...but I'm just the Salt of the Earth.

LoFL - i don't even make $15,000 a year, and i'll be lucky to figure out how to afford even three shows somehow, and i am feeling so freakin blessed!
it's the Rolling Stones!
