I just read that Bill Wyman was born "William George Perks."
Surprised that I never knew that...

And yet his attorneys sent a cease-and-desist letter to Bill Wyman, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution music writer, asking that said music writer, who was born William Wyman, use a disclaimer indicating that he is not the former Rolling Stone.

^ Understandable, since journalist Bill Wyman has occasionally taken to confusing music fans by writing a "reply" to Keith's Life memoir under the guise of Mick Jagger.

But, as has been pointed out on behalf of journalist Bill Wyman:

Journalist Bill Wyman has been Bill Wyman since his birth on Jan. 11, 1961. Musician Bill Wyman became Bill Wyman two years later. Before that, he was William George Perks, and not as prone to writing cease-and-desist letters.

Still, musician Bill Wyman has been well-known under his second name long before the future journalist ever even imagined writing his first music review.

Nonetheless, the cease-and-desist motion put forth by Wyman's lawyers has been denied.

When Mick & Keith asked Bill to join them on the tour he said "Weep!"

But when they told him it would be for only two songs, he said "Errr..", picked up his metal detector and walked out.

I remember hearing on one of the Stones intros during the 89/90 tour Mick introduced him as Perky Bill Wyman. Can't remember if it's on video or a bootleg album though, it's been so long since I heard it!
