If you reply 30.000 kilometers, try a flight by the other side of earth, it should be shorter. >grinning smiley<

What lengths do Rolling Stones fans go to to see them play live ?

What SHOULD have been an act of simplicity itself (to see the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park this summer), especially as I'm a Londoner living barely a dozen tube stops from Hyde Park ..... turned into nothing short of a f***ing nightmare because of the level of incompetence displayed by (a) the promoter and (b) the ticket vendor. It was nothing short of a nightmare to BUY the sodding tickets in the first place (because the website wasn't working at the time they went on sale), and EVEN MORE of a nightmare to actually take delivery of them come near show time.

Anyway, after more grief and angst than ANYONE deserves .... it was bloody great on both nights, and in addition ........ I & my friends appear to have made it onto the HP DVD !! cool smiley

So the answer to your question is: Stones fans go to ridiculous lengths, albeit that on occasions it oughtn't be necessary !!

I haven't a clue what any of you guys look like .

I've often had suspicions that certain folks at shows might be IORRians... but I've never been able to bring myself to enquire.

Very silly...I know.sad smiley

I was wondering if most of the people standing around me were actually people I knew online. I did manage to meet one of them, but there must have been more! (Well, I know gotdablouse was near me somewhere, anyway.)

. Absolutely worth it even though I was reduced to living on tesco value cardboard.

Nothing is worth it if you have to resort to Tesco Value produce. My stomach still wretches at the memory of the time I unwittingly drank Value Lemonade round a friends house circa 1998.

In regard to the question: I no longer bother. I caught them during the Licks and A Bigger Bang tours. I enjoyed every moment, but haven't lost sleep over not seeing them since.

My stomach still wretches at the memory of the two bottles of blended Scotch I unwittingly drank round at a friends house circa 1976 on my 18th birthday.

Ever since then I've only been to drink single malt or Bourbon.

I partied all night in the parking lot outside JFK Stadium on the night before the show there in 1978.

I flew from DC to Detroit for the Ford Field show in 2002.

...I just checked:
for 29 concerts since 1990 I travelled 27391 kilometers (17020 miles) bird's eye grand total.

I live in Antwerp (Belgium). I saw 7 gigs in London, 4 gigs in Werchter (Belgium - closest to my home; about 35 km...), 3 times Paris, 2 in Chicago, 2 in Prague, 2 in Rotterdam, and one each in Washington DC, Gelsenkirchen (Germany), Luxemburg (LUX), Nijmegen (HOL), Utrecht (HOL), The Hague (HOL), Landgraaf (HOL), Amsterdam, and St. Petersburg (Russia).

For next tour(-s), I do hope I can catch 'em in my home town for once. (Just the once!)
