similarities? 'Wild Horses', and Zeppelin's 'Tangerine'

OK..

I always think this when I listen to Led Zep's 'Tangerine'..:

the way Bonham plays is like what Charlie does on Wild Horses...

I love both songs and in the drums I think the playing is very similar..

listen to one, then the other, maybe I'm not the only one..?

Both are excellent acoustic things by bands known for harder rocking stuff.

Tangerine was written in 1967/68.

This was supposed to be on the Yardbirds - Cumular Limit CD, but Page intervened and stopped it.

Listening to that early take on what would later evolve to become Zeppelin's Tangerine, makes me wonder what could have happened if the Yardbirds hadn't have broken-up in '68. Page was seemingly pushing the group towards a heavier, more progressive direction with the above-mentioned, Dazed And Confused, Think About It, etc. We'll never know of course, but it is interesting to speculate.

They wouldn't have evolved much anyway, as Relf and McCarty were both unhappy with the harder rock direction encouraged by Page, and wanted to explore mellower, more progressive elements (with Renaissance).

I always liked this anti-hippie rocker Avron Knows, also from Cumular Limits, taken from the 1968 New York sessions.

I always feel "Highwire" and Dylan's "Neighborhood bully" have some similarity.

"Neighborhood Bully" is about Israel, isn't it?

Funny, Zeppelin is known for their harder rock songs, yet they have so much acoustic material, maybe 40%+ of their material is acoustic.

it is..

"what has he done..to wear so many scars..
did he change the course of rivers..did he pollute the moon and stars.."

'every empire that's enslaved him has gone
Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon'
