Any RELIABLE(!) news on Ronnie???
Posted by: Anonymous User ()
Date: April 19, 2005 17:46

I'm just worrying about Ronnie's health - as we all do (or at least most of us). I would appreciate any reliable news on this topic. Does anybody know which rehab hospital he is in ? Is it somewhere in Ireland? Anyone who knows if he is still there? God bless Ronnie, Ronnie be good !!!

He is doing fine - all the rumours about RW are from the MT group who doesn't like Ronnie

All of the Ronnie rumors are from an anti Ronnie/pro Mick contingent Country Honk? Come on now!

I think he is in Ireland now - someone on Ronniewood.com reported that he has seen him in his little town on the street.

"All of the Ronnie rumors are from an anti Ronnie/pro Mick contingent Country Honk? Come on now!"

Quite much so, a couple of years ago and further back he had bigger problems....

But he hasn't been worse than many other musicians.... Keith is drinking heavily, Mick T. was quite much on coke beeing with the Stones, Eric Clapton was drinking quite a lot - just to mention a few.....

From my point of view the view of Ronnie is quite much biased here on the site....

You never see posts about Mick T on drugs, Keith having drinking problems etc.

But Ronnie he is the s...

Hmmmm you have a valid point Country Honk. Why jump on just Ronnie for his drinking and drugging? But my point was that I didn't think the Mick Taylor devotees were the soul source of the Ronnie bashing on this site, that's all.

Nobody would really even care if it wasn't evident that the bottle has caused the man to lose his chops.

Ronnie is fine, he is at my house chillin out keeping in touch with the rest of the boys on a regular basis. We have been jammin everyday and he is in fine shape for the up coming tour.

Simply put, Ronnie and alcohol/drugs don't mix.

Keith and M.T. come from a different breed of rock star, they don't have the same problem Ronnie has.

While the drink and drugs may enhance the creativity of level of certain artists and musicians (Keith and M.T. for example), it is quite evident that it's a major problem for Ronnie, and in the big picture it's obviously a huge detriment to the Rolling Stones. When he's drunk, he uses the guitar as a prop rather than an instrument, in the same way a comedian uses oversized shoes and a clown nose for laughs. As a matter of fact, Ronnie actually becomes a clown making silly faces and goofy expressions when he's drinking. He may think he's clever and funny, but he's not, and the show he puts on when he's drunk is sad news for the fans and the legacy of the Rolling Stones. Even when he's not intoxicated, he sometimes looks bored and starts making a clown of himself. He needs to focus on the guitar, and not be distracted by his drunken shennanagins.

so you're saying that the story in "The Sun" the other day was planted by Open G?

Ronnie has been warned a couple of times by his doctors that if he started drinking and smoking again, he could die soon. I guess that puts an additional dimension to his situation and makes many of us worry more.

what a load of absolutely retarded nonsense. What planet have you been living on for the last year or two?

His problems were worse years ago and he's not as bad as other musicians?

he was told a year ago that if he didnt stop smoking he would get emphysema and die

he was also told that if he didnt stop drinking, he would die

he gave newspaper interviews where he specifically stated this

How much more 'serious' do you want it to be before you finally get the picture?

maybe it gets mentioned here because....duh..we actually CARE what happens to the guy?

Only a frigging lamebrain would turn this into some twisted piece of fiction dreamed up by people who prefer a past band member. Poor keith and Mick Taylor...we're not so concerned about THEIR health..boo hoo

I've read some idiotic posts on this forum in my time but this surely a contender for the #1 spot

On a serious note...

Ronnies health concerns are the priority here.

Any lighthearted gesturing on my part about how he performs with the Stones or how he could negatively effect their reputation should be taken with a grain of salt. I really don't care if he plays like shit with the Stones, he's a human being. My prayers are with him.

Did I mention cheese?.....even going on about RW health someone STILL manages to get back to MT! "Taylor PLAYED on stage" OVER 30 BLOOMIN YEARS AGO! I'm sure RW wasn't that bad then either ya muppet!

I like Ronnie until 89-90. As the greatest rock'n roll band, Stones deseve a better guitarist. That's all. And yes Taylor was perfect.

So what would you suggest.....oh no hang on, you'll bring MT back with Wyman on bass, a reggae band to open, Chuck hanging from the rafters with the crowd cranked up on some good ol Tubbytoast...

Hairlouse,

Without wishing to appear a totally detrital toad, it is wisdom you speak.

Which makes me believe that you are not completely beyond the bucket and that if you hear an earlier version of BTZ, you'll dig the guitars which are higher in the mix, they even 'come on strong' towards the end, before getting cut off in their prime etc. etc. (On Alternate Dirty Work).

I'm getting sick and tired of the Vibrato Terror Squad hijacking every Ronnie related thread to make their point. BACK OFF for once!!

hard to argue with the sentiment. nothing will change, but the greatest r'n'r band surely deserves someone capable of handling basic lead duties...that's a given.

Thanks Rolling Hansie, I was about to ask the same question. This thread wasn't opened to start another RW/MT argument or something similar....

I have been told the reason why Ronnie could not come to the Bo Diddley show in Dublin Monday night was because he is in rehab in Ireland still and could not leave then. By the way Bo Diddle said no when being offered a pint of Guinnes by a guy in the crowd. In fact he does not do that stuff. He is 76 and still kickin'.
