Indicators for the Stones or their people reading this forum?
Date: July 15, 2013 17:00

There have often been rumours, that the Stones or their representatives probably read this board. Could it be, that they sometimes incorporate an idea by IORR posters? Which indicators of someone following can you remember from the past?

I don't consider these ones as definite proofs, but the coincidences make me think:

* They baptized the gorilla "Grrregory" after someone here suggested this name (Gregory) for him.
* Someone suggested to call a tour for their 50th "Fifty and Counting"
* Some posters wanted a choir on stage for "YCAGWYW"
* They brought Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor back for the festivities after people asked for it.

(I suppose sooner or later someone will start to list indicators of them NOT reading our posts: "They didn't use Mick Taylor on more songs."... winking smiley )

This is a question for JJLantern or the Lone Ranger.

People suggested thousands of stuff every week, and indeed a few of those things were practically implemented on the tour... a few thousands weren't.

The choir idea isn't that far fetched considering a choir is on the original recording. I doubt The Stones or the people around them weren't creative enough to come up with that idea themselves. Now, if someone here had suggested some wacky idea like they bring out a bag pipes instead for the intro then we'd be more inclined to pat ourselves on the back. Same goes for Wyman and Taylor's appearance. The Stones are celebrating their history. It's a no-brainer that they bring back past members to join in the celebration. They didn't need us to come up with that idea.

If the first two points are true, though, then yay us.

If they are like a large company (which in many ways they are, and in many ways they aren't) they have an intern paid to monitor sites like this, and report up the chain anything particularly unusual (the only thing worth mentioning over the past 6 months probably being the support for mick taylor). their executives/leaders might once in a blue moon browse through a forum like this to get a sense of the pulse of the community.

Probably just coincidences but you can add the T1/T2/T3 Hyde Park setup suggested by marquee here [www.iorr.org] after the initial "HP Tier Fiasco"...

I seem to recall Can't You Hear Me Knocking being persistently requested on this forum during the build-up to the Licks tour.

This is as funny as the people on the Springsteen board taking credit for changes to the setlist. These sites aren't that important and they already know all of this stuff because it is so obvious. I mean, people really think that they can't come up with playing CYHMK, that they don't know the fans would love that, without reading it here? The idea that they pay someone to read internet forums is ludicrous. it does make people feel self-important, though, so I suppose it's harmless and contributes to the quantum of good feeling in the world.

They have not taken advice on sacking Chuck Leavell. If they do that then I might believe they listen to this forum.

I doubt they would take the time to read posts of any such fan forum. The only fan feedback that would interest them would be the immediate buzz generated from a live audience.

Otherwise, fan forum feedback is about as useful to them as a thought piece from, for example, the Daily Mail.

There has been pressure building up for a while to give Mick Taylor a role and some just compensation for his past recordings and denied song writing credits with the Stones. You saw comments on youtube about this. This site was also active in bringing up MT. The 2009 Daily Mail article about his dreadful living circumstances had a role in it. No way did Mick Jagger escape reading that one

I will give the internet credit for MT's return due to popular acclaim.
What Mick Taylor did for the Stones can never be undone!

I honestly don't care whether or not they read IORR, they do what they want to do, it's their band.

I am, however, always interested in room service..and what's wrong with apples Duke?

They probably don't read it themselves, but they'll have employees monitoring their forums. All bands do these days.

We suggested that the Stones soar past the Beatles with one of these 50 and counting dates and they did just that at Glatsonbury! Eclipsing Altamont in the process!
