Did anyone noticed this Tim Ries Rolling Stones Project before?

It's new for me. You can listen parts of some songs on the website.
I don't like this jazz-arrangements.

Samples are HTW, Satisfaction and WH.
HTW features Chawley on drums and Keefster on guitar; alwas nice. But it sound like a jazz freak is jammin to a Stones outtake.
WH... Not at the Gram Parsons-levels, really.
Satisfaction in jazz version already exists in a splendid version by Charlie Watts Tentet. This is ok, though.
...There are a good bunch of Stones-related people on this sessions: Bernard Fowler (vocals), Darryl Jones (bass e.g. HTW), Lisa Fischer (vocals), Norah Jones [e.g. WH] (vocals and piano).

I saw Tim Ries last Summer at a jazz festival. He did very nice arrangements of some Stones classics, but also compositions of his own.

This is an update of the webpage, which is online for almost a year now.
The CD was supposed to be released in Japan last summer, and worlwide a bit later if I make no mistake.

Baboon Pro, some of the Stones themselves are part of the projetct : Keith and our favorite all-time jazzlover Charlie.

"HTW features Chawley on drums and Keefster on guitar; alwa(y)s nice."
Chawley & Keefster - unmistakeably C.W and K.R, right?
On the three samples, only Ronnie & Mick are missing.
...I wrote something nice about experiment and new angles etc in a previous, vanished post.
Though I call myself BB (Which - for less Stones-engaged folks - refers to Keefs hotel room name during VL tour) I dont think I like exactly everything he likes in music. And I (by the way) certainly dont like all that Mick has in his record collection! ...In fact me, 41, has been trying for several years to start likin jazz, I´ve borrowed Miles Davis, Coltrane etc etc; but the torch doesnt light...

- More reactions on this Ries-/Stones-project?

They are not bad, maybe too "sophiticated".
If I were to re-arrange stones stuff in a jazzy fashion I would have (the late, soul influenced) Cannonball Adderley as a point of reference: you need balls even if you add major 7ths!!!

Tim's cd "Alternate Side" from 2001 features a jazz version of Moonlight Mile.

It sounds nice. Very smooth. There is an audio clip on cdnow.com.
