It woulod be great if they played songs from 83 onwards, but they will not do it. A shame.
Wait til this new publishing deal bears fruit, and you'll be hearing things like 'Too Much Blood' in tampax ads, 'Had it with you' in marriage guidance counselling commercials, 'Gunface' used to promote the NRA, 'Thief in the Night' promoting burglar alarms and 'Sex Drive' as the background for a Viagra promotion.
The result will be all the corporate attendees will be screaming requests for these newly discovered songs on the next tour.
How about "Let It Loose" for laxatives?

judas priest just did a farewell tour and played at least 1 tune from every album they ever did
And that worked really well for them(just saw and enjoyed the Epitaph bluray).
But that wouldn't work for the Stones. Their discography is a totally different animal.

The general public stopped buying new Stones albums after Tatoo You.
They're last UK #1 was VOODOO LOUNGE. Their last US #1 was TATTOO YOU. Their last UK and US #1 was EMOTIONAL RESCUE.
Perhaps Canada likes the Stones better - A BIGGER BANG was their last Canadian #1.

celebrating the bands 50th anniversary they really should have picked at least 1 song from each album to at least rotate in and out of the set. shame that didn't happen though.

For a band that tours after a 5 year break it is obviously too difficult to rotate their setlist more than they actually did. And even the one-offs they did actually sounded quite shaky more often than not. That's the curse when you're not an active band anymore, don't rehearse or just play together between tours.

B2B was a darn good album.

ABB has to be the worst Stones album ever. Laugh, I Nearly Died is the only decent song on that dud.

Their last UK number 1 was actually the reissue of Exile in 2010. A remarkable achievement.
To be honest, sales and weeks in the chart are a more of a barometer of success than chart placings. A record can sell relatively low amounts and still be a chart topper in a week where no other major artists are also releasing something. Timing is everything when it comes to chart placings.

Very good, but I'm trying to sell the '83 onwards' catalogue. Pay attention!

First time a reissued album ever topped the charts.
Even more remarkable in that it was one which was 38 years old and wasnt promoted by the band playing any shows or making any TV appearances (musical ones, anyway).
Most of those releases - even with bonus tracks - would struggle to make the top 50.

Great set list keefriffhard4life - a few additions such as: 19th nervous, Let it Bleed or Live with Me, Gimme Shelter, Rocks Off, Sweet Virginia, Heartbreaker, One hit, plus alternate JJF with Midnight Rambler. Get onto it Mick!

A BIGGER BANG stayed at #1 of the Global Chart for two weeks and, if i remember correctly, on Top 10 of the particular chart for 3-4 weeks. Actually ABB have sold better than some Stones albums from the past, the so called "glory years" included. 2,600,000 copies sold was a really good number by the measures of 2005-06.
As Stoneshearted said, every album since Tattoo You has been top 5 in the US and UK, except for B2B, which was no. 6. And, if memory helps, all the recent Stones studio albums (not only AB became #1 on the Chart which shows the worldwide sales. So your claim that "the general public stopped bying new Stones albums after Tatoo You" is simply wrong.
The Stones never had been "monster" as album sellers (ticket sales is another story!), but they still are admirably stable album sellers, as Stoneshearted's observation reminds us. In addition, the most important factor as for the sales is the ...number sales itself, not whether an album is #1, #2, or #3 on a particular chart. Voodoo Lounge was one of the best selling Stones albums ever. It did strong sales in the US, but stayed at #2 just because the Lion King's soundtrack was invincible. In 1978, in the UK, Some Girls had been limited at #2 due to "Saturday Night Fever". And SG is the best selling Stones album ever...

Not to suggest that it wasn't a remarkable achievement but a reissued album accomplished chart topping previously with Thriller in 2008--25th anniversary edition. It went #1 in more than ten countries.
I'm sorry, was there a time when Exile was out of print?Quote

Was 'Thriller' ever out of print, though?
