I gotta say that the Jumping Jack Flash video is an all-time classic. This was the "new" Stones--they set the tone here for every other pretender to the throne as "greatest rock n roll band in the world". They had the look, and they had the sound--no one else has even come close. Brian looked cool in this, didn't he? So sad, so sad.
There is a 2dvd set with 66 (sixty six) videos called More hot rocks-Rewind. Running time 260mn, all tracks taken from the original mastertapes. It's fantastic with rare Child of the moon, We love you, 2 JJF... Waiting on a friend is one of my favorites with many more.
Havent seen everything that exists; but I must agree wioth Sam Spade that JJF is a hell of a video, with sweat, devil worshipping and agony oozin´ in a rock 'n' roll hell & heaven
If I had to show one stones video to some non stones fans, I would show IORR or Jumping Jack Flash. They would laugh and laugh if I showed Start Me Up, with "stupid Mick" =) Mixed Emotions is a shame by the way.
I like th one where zey where all ze frocks and pansy clothes - "Av you seen zis woman baby standink in ze shadows", oh well, zat one. Please excuse my Engliss I am not zat strong on methods.
"Start me up"??? You're kidding. Mick's miming is horrendous on it
My favourites tend to be the "New York backdrop" ones, such as Waiting On A Friend, Love Is Strong (OK,I know it was filmed in Toronto), Anybody Seen My Baby etc.
IORR is hard to beat. I like the fun ones such as Respectable and Far Away Eyes
Best live one is the Hampton 81 montage of "Going To A Go Go" (NOT the awful one with the dancers). I had just got my first VCR for Xmas '81 and that was the first Stones video I taped off the TV. In the two months before I first saw them in summer '82 I must have played that clip about 200 times in anticipation. Still love it. The sense of atmosphere and excitement of a Stones show on that clip is captured perfectly.
However, I dont think anything can top the one for their greatest ever single - Jumpin' Jack Flash
