Hey Stones freaks out there... Here´s a cozy, nice li´l pieze o´writin´, published in 2005 as it is (series on famous vinyl albums).
Janovitz has a band called Buffalo Tom, has written for All Music Guide online site (www.allmusic.com); and he lives in Massachusetts.
I received the book today. At first I thought "what a piece of crap, poor little paperback. Just about the songs... " - But that´s just what is´s all about... After a deep diving in Janovitz´ sturm und drang rock 'n' roll years (he is, like me, brought up under the punk era) as a foreword and a chapter one; he goes in for the whole story of Nellcôte, and in particular he investigates the relations between the acteurs, within the group and - some more - between the Stones and the others. ...And so, song for song, he goes for it... He digs behind the scenes and researches the story behind the songs and follows it all the way to the loadspeaker or the headphones at your place... You could say he takes us on a trip along a song from the farmer´s spike to the loaf in the shop. Who is really playing what. At 2:33, what kind of note does Bill play... Yeah! Exactly that kind of life-depending facts that we Stones hard core fans do need... Fresh, crisp new views and angles on an old subjest... How do we relate Altamont to Sticky Fingers and to Exile... Are Stones bad musicians (?)... Are they great lyricists, poets? ... - So, bud, go buy this one!
Publ. data: Continuum Books (2005) New York - London. www.continuumbooks.com ISBN 0-8264-1673-X Cost: US $ 9,95, UK £ 6,99; I got it for 90 SKR (Swedish Crowns)
Hey again... Please throw in some feedback on this. Has anyone else read it (its quite new though)?
Did you read something else on the Stones recently? Anyone out there who also liked "Nankering with the Stones" By James Phelge. Or did anyone more than me care to read out "2stoned" by ALO? Opinions?
I have heard good stuff about this book. I need a report for the next IORR magazine. Feel free to e-mail me reviews if you have an opinion on this book. Thanks!
BJörnulf, Feel free to use any suiting line of mine, cut and paste - whatever you like. I know I´m not too critical, but really I couldnt find any weak parts...
I need to receive any material for use in the IORR magazine or the web site by e-mail. Please forward to the e-mail adress: iorr@arena.no - PS. I do not copy/paste from other sites.

Or has anyone read any of the 33 1/3 series? There are several books, each discussing a specific album, including several of my all-time faves like The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society and Loveless by My Bloody Valentine.

KSIE, did you read any of the issues/books of this series on Kinks record or the other ones you mentioned? What did you think: Is there any similarity in writing between (if you havent read this particular one) what I describe above and them?

No, I have not. They look interesting, and your post convinces me to buy the Exile book. Thanks.
Ya, next time you hear from me I´ll be a sales manager at Continuum Book, right? Seriously I´m most satisfied with this purchase... And the Gods ought to know that I´m a really greedy bastard who always thought that "books can be borrowed on the library"... Anyone wondering why I´m pleased with this book, see above, first post. - Just one thing for potential buyers: It isnt the Bible. You wont get all the answers, but credible shoots and steadily, well-founded hypothesises on who play what etc. ..There aint many records which would make me rush out and buy a book for 10 green ones...
