Given that the current inductees are getting ready to join the Stones, I was wondering what happened at the awards show on the Stones induction in 89. Was Mick Taylor there and did he participate in the all star jam at the end? What songs did they play, etc. I though I read that Charlie and Bill were not present. I'm wondering if this show is available on dvd?
It's available on DVD. Mick T was there as far as I can remember - The All Star jam was not very special, it was bit of a chaos... that's always this way with unrehearsed All Star jams.
Yes MT was there and he participated in the jam at th end
Songs:
Uptight Satisfaction Ain't Too Proud To Beg Lucille Respect Come Softly To Me Be My Baby The Wanderer My Girl Get Ready Honky Tonk Women I Can't Turn You Loose Bony Moronie Start Me Up Crying River Deep, Mountain High
I'm not sure Taylor was plugged in.
Mick J, Keith, Mick T, and Ronnie were there and made speeches or attempted jokes; the others were not there.
Pete Townshend inducted The Stones into the Hall. Mick, Keith, Ron and Mick T were on stage during the induction. Mick made a speech, mentioning Ian Stewart and Brian. One must remember that this was in early 89 before Steel Wheels so the Stones hadn't done anything since Dirty Work and the whole Mick/Keith feud was the dominant Stones story of the previous couple years. At that point, no one was sure they would ever record again, let alone tour! I don't recall if they had already begun recording Steel Wheels yet or if that was still a couple months away. It was during the 80's and 90's that I looked forward to receiving Bill German's Beggar's Banquet newsletters to keep up to date as to what the Stones were up to.
Mick Taylor's Vibrato is in the rock and roll hall of fame and hopefully one can listen to his contributions in the halls of the rock and roll hall of fame in ohio
