Do fans at the concerts boo Keith when he plays?
Posted by: memphiscats ()
Date: June 2, 2013 01:21

I always thought people were saying KEEF! But when I saw them on Tuesday, my friend said "I just hate when they boo Keith." I said I didn't think anyone would ever do this. (We love Keith.)

She claims every time she sees the Stones, and Keith gets ready to do his songs, people boo.
Is this true? I told her I thought she must be mishearing the KEEFS. smoking smiley

No she is wrong. In Oakland he got a great reception and in my section at least everyone stayed engaged. No heading for the restroom or a drink.

I've seen a crowd collectively sit down when Keith started playing "All About You", but never heard a boo.

No, they don't. But perhaps, sometimes, they should?

I've never heard him booed. People are glad to see him. It's always an opportunity for a substantial portion of the audience to leave their seats and take a break. They should play chimes in the arena ramps when his songs are almost over, like they do for theater intermissions, so people can get back to their seats in time for the rest of the show.

Thank you all for your replies. I knew she had to be wrong!!! BTW I thought Keith was amazing on Tuesday. He sounded so good - both with Mick & his songs.

Trust me nobody is booing Keef at a Stones concert even if he is not on top of his game. He has earned that respect IMHO.

EXACTLY. He's probably the most popular member of the band right now anyway, even among people who aren't crazy about his songs. (And that "todger" thing has been so overblown it's unbelievable.) It's both respect for his playing, and respect for his survivorship. We nearly lost him a while back . .

Aquamarine, your use of the word "overblown" is shocking.

I forgive you because I love your name.

I wouldn't say Keith is the most popular member of the band. Charlie Watts has that distinction, by far. And he doesn't bleat out two songs in the middle of the show like Keith does, which only adds to his charm.

it depends on what circle of people you're speaking of. of the people who know the stones in great depth, you're probably right. however the average person has no idea who charlie watts is.

How many years has the 2 song Keith habit been going for?
When and where was the first gig it appeared?

I wouldn't know. confused smiley

I have to imagine the first time Keith ever did two songs was opening night of the Steel Wheels tour in Philadelphia.

Speaking about popularity, an ex-girlfriend of mine who wasn't a fan loved Charlie.

funny, my GF does too and she also isn't a fan. there's a certain charm to being the quiet one with the ironic smile in the background, keeping it all together.

don't know if any of you have seen this, but it tells you how many places on the internet refer to a certain person (according to google). it can be fun. of course it's not a measure of popularity or anything.

Interesting topic...I was listening to the Orpheum boot the other day and I'm pretty sure I head some "booing noises" mixed with the "Keith, Keith, Keith"'s, but maybe there was something else the crowd was reacting to, anyone noticed/know what what going on?

Animal lovers aren't fans of his. He has a bad reputation due to murdering Ron Wood's parakeet.
